Dude had a right to his opinion like anybody else. He did not have to be in love with everyone and this was said in a private conversation.

what is the source for this? i"d like to see it. People don't remember now but George Michael was really dissed by critics and had been called a prince copycat. I think Rolling Stone called his "i want your sex" a Prince copy and also Michael a "flaccid talent". I always thought he was a great pop songwriter/arranger if not musician. His vocals really took off in the 90's. In the eighties I think his voice wasn't quite there yet. He became a truly fine vocalist.

Also, anyone know why GM told Prince to "fuck off"?

as an artist george ain't in Prince's league, not too many people are. as a vocalist and a pop songwriter, he could be better.

Well well, Prince speaks his mind. I agree with him. Though GMichael did fall asleep at the wheel at Hyde Park conrer, that's pretty fucking cool, unless you were in the cab behind the stoned arse.

George and Prince thought very highly of one another. They became friends over their battles with the record companies. Actually it was thanks to George that I met Prince and George was also in the audience at P's aftershow that night.

In context it sounds like Prince would have said that about whoever the guy was leaving to work with.

edit; four albums, i keep forgetting about plectrum electrum, prince roughly came out to an album a year so i guess his coming out with that many in a year and a half was just him keeping in habit with himself.

That is the thing whatever was going on between 2010 - 2014 he was still working. Still recording music and still touring. Still running his business. How can you compare George to Prince.

Exactly. Prince was just talking smack because his publicist was leaving for someone else. I doubt he even meant it.

I another interview from the late 90's Prince said "GM is one of the greatest songwriter of our times" so IDK where this quote comes from but I believe the least u could do it to quote it in context so we can understand what lead Prince to say this if he indeed said it.

There's nothing worst, in this digital age, than to quote someone out of context, u can virtually make people say the opposite of what they mean by doing so. I think I remember u're pretty young: please understand that the internet makes it much more easier for information to be decontextualized and misuinterpreted than any previous media.

He probably never said it. And if he did say it, it was clearly an off-handed comment. Not that I care if he was a GM fan or not, but don't assume 3rd hand reports are true.
