You know, I have been wanting to research it but haven't yet. I do know that some people who may have looked progressive on racial issues back then would not now.

The song sounds SO different that pretty much anything else that came out in 1986 (except for other songs on Parade, of course.) I like the song, but it's certainly not a favorite.

An album that I recently fell in love with is New Power Soul. When I looked back on old discussion about it, I was SHOCKED to see that it wasn't a very popular album. I literally love like every song on that album...

While I don't love it as much as you, it was much better than I expected given it's reputation here. I originally bought it earlier this year for completist purposes and then found out it was quite enjoyable!
