i was there when i was a 15 year old boy from germany ... visiting my girlfriend for a week (she worked there - in London - not in the store - for a year) and one of the first stops after landing was the shop - inside was the whole band (without prince and mayte) . i played the interactiv CD with Michael and sonny and had some cool talks with morris and tomy...
GREAT- i nearly forget this - [Edited 12/5/16 11:27am] [Edited 12/5/16 11:28am]

I worked there. I did work experience for two weeks, which turned into a weekend job - I was aged 14/15 at the time. I was there for around two years, I think. It was a long time ago. Great staff, and the fans were amazing. Such a great community. When 'the internet' got going there really wasn't much need for it. It wasn't exactly a big money-spinner (not that I kept a tally of the takings).

i was about 14 at the time, I used to go to camden almost every weekend to go to the store, i lived in Chiswick at the time so it was an hour journey on the tube. Loved it. Went just to see the jacket (memory serving me correctly?) and cloud guitar they had on display there... *

Luckily I was involved (a little) in the opening so I got to spend quite a lot of time there before it opened officially. . On the Wednesday evening, before the opening on the Saturday, there were informal drinks and press coverage. . This period was such an awesome experience. . I really loved 'the vault' that was in the floor covered with glass. . I have a load of unused footage which one day I should get transfered to digital, particularly the Saturday with Prince and Mayte. . Happy days. Happy memories! .

Yep, am very grateful. I learnt a lot about PR, and went on to work in entertainment PR for many years. Wish I had got a chance to thank him for that life changing experience. Funnily enough, after it closed down, the shop became a lingerie store. Ha, he would have loved that.

I remember walking in there in 1993 and having a coffee or something. They played a live version of "Endorphin Machine" and two fanatics (like me) were sitting at the next table and were singing along to the "press one for the money..." break. My friends (non-fanatics) were groaning.
there were also two sarcastic non fans in there looking at stuff, and they were going through the interactive and laughing when Prince's head pops up through that vase. They said some very typically dry but hilarious comment, then looked around and... "sorry."
I didn't buy anything. Regretted it, and then one year later had a friend go buy Gold Nigga and Exodus and bring them back to me. So I have that early eidtion with the song "Guess Who's Knockin"

Can't remember what video that was. We played The Dawn Experience and the American Music Awards performance A LOT. Also the Dolphin video, Sacrafice of Victor and The Undertaker. Never played anything pre o+> really. On the stereo we'd play a lot of Lettigo (remixes), 1-800-New Funk, Gold N***a, and even Mayte's album.

He was wearing a full length robe. Might have been black. It was a live performance (or so it seemed). The song was new, (only heard on bootleg). Was a video included on the Interactive CDR? My art book: http://www.lulu.com/spotl...ecomicskid

I had family who lived and worked in London at the time so when I visited we went there a few times. I've never bought so many candles before or since as I did there.

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

. The time capsule was a long chrome cylinder. Not massively big. . It was in the floor on the basement retail level. . It was covered with a glass panel so you could walk over it. . I'll have to dig out my video footage of it!. .

I went to the birthday party June 7th 1995 in the Canden store. Nothing much happened, we just hung around chatting to people, got to sign a big birthday card for P but we did get to hear Poom Poom for the very first time I remember! Maybe another song also, can anybody remember? There was a Prince lookalike at the party too & he was sooo like him!! Kept hoping that would walk in at any moment but he didn't. Think he was in Miami.

I have a small red one, it's in a glass and has the symbol on the front. I burned the rest, and lost a few from moving around so much.

Spent many a weekend at that store.
The highlight for me was when some of the NPG turned up for a coffee and I got to chat to Michael B and Sonny T.
We sat watching the Diamonds & Pearls video collection on the TV together for a while and I talked to Michael about the Undertaker VHS that had just come out. I asked him about Dolphin and why it the live version was replaced from the version with a studio mix. Never found out why but he did tell me that he did that New Power Trio mix of Dolphin.

Does anyone on the org know him? I'd love to know what was in it. Baby, you're a star.

I went to the shop a couple of times. Wasn't impressed with it to be honest and was more excited by the boots I picked up from a little stall in Camden market. RIP

I used to drive in from outside of London every weekend. Pre internet, so you never knew if anything new would pop up.
Would love to know what happened to the time capsule. Even better, I'd love to think its still buried in there. .

Remember that ledge with the candles burning? After a few months it was covered in different coloured wax, I remember thinking it looked really cool.
