I used to play my Prince 45's on 33 - YOU REALLY SHOULD TRY THIS

It made them funkier. Everyone laughed at me, of course...

Later, I used my computer to reproduce the ratio of 45/33, and slowed down several recordings. "Mountains" in particular just got all fonkay at 33.

Has anyone else noticed this or tried this, or am I the only weirdo?

No you're not the only wierdo!

I used to do that too with me record player. That's the way I figured out the snare drum on Kiss is really the same snare drum on If I Was Your Girlfriend only sped up! And the clap on 777-9311 is the same clap of Pop Life only sped up!

SOmetimes I used to speed things upto 78! My old Zenith allowed that...

Of course then I'd reverse a few songs, like Sheila E's Bedtime stories!

I used to do it with a turntable but now there is software to at least slow a music file down...

I used to do this a lot, there's a great plugin for winamp, and Romance 1600, the whole album, is just on fire slowed down a notch or two.

Great when stoned. pimp2

This says, "An easy way to slow down the music without changing the pitch!" ...not quite the right effect--the pitch should go ahead and go down. sad

Winamp plugin:

http://classic.winamp.com...nentId=176

Works fantastic!!

Remember winamp v.3 can't use plugins, so you need v.2.

You should know that they are sounds from the Linn Drum

Yeah, but back when I was a kid I figured it out when I didn't know he was using the pitch nob! I was suprised and like I said, I didn't even know about the Linn LM-1 and thought then that he tweaked the drums. Later I found an LM-2 and but it wasn't really the same.

Now as a proud ownner of one, I know very well...aahhhaaa.

Oh and which multipul post is that? Do I do a search on "The Linn Sound"? I know I posted a bunch of info!

I think you CAN mess with the pitch! Takes a look at the screenshots:

Notice that there is a pitch lever in the middle, which I 'm sure you can tweak so when you either speed the tempo or slow it down you can tweak the pitch to match!

Audion for Mac OS also has a built in plug-in that does what a record player does, pitch and all!

http://www.panic.com/audion/

Read one of the features below..."Speed Control-Make every song a Chipmunks song!"
