The Rainbow Children 2 Flicking through the Stories From the Purple Underground book, I saw a passage from Sam Jennings who worked on the NPG Music Club. He says he made the artwork for 'The Rainbow Children Part 2' Album...

Me too! I certainly hope it would have had a better title in the end.

I recently read on another fan forum that Prince allegedly put together a "religious" album around 2007 and submitted it to the JWs, but they rejected it. And there was speculation that this might have been one reason his initial fervor cooled off a bit - because they were curbing his artistic creativity (allegedly).
This is the first I'd heard of that, but it could very well be TRC2.
Anyone else have information on this?

"No" isn't a word Prince has ever liked hearing, so I wouldn't be surprised if he'd been pissed. However it's also the first time I hear of this. Was there any source for that statement? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

It was someone who styles themselves a part-time journalist on the side of an academic position. I've seen this person's writing, and it seems reliable - but there was no evidence. This person also seems to have other inside information - but again, not something I can verify. Just information that fits neatly with other bits of information I hear from living locally. Minnesotans are very respectful of Prince's privacy, but everybody does really seem to know everybody in this state. A couple of months ago, there was an Orger who is also a JW, and asked if one of the newer JW hymns had the look/feel of Prince to anyone. That popped into my mind when I read about this over the holidays. Again - no inside information on my part.
I certainly would be interested to know if anyone else has heard anything, but I also hope I'm not putting out too much that will be fodder for rumors or untruths.

I remember this hymn thread, it made no sense at all. The simple fact that someone feels that a song sounds like Prince doesn't make it an acceptable reason to spread confusion into people's minds. Every once in a while people create such threads on the org about any possible song they've randomly ran into. I find it unacceptable.

I would have to see this artwork to believe it. If it were from the past, sure, but recently done, I highly doubt it.

I have also read in at least one place since April (but cannot remember the source and think it was either in a published news story or here) that Prince had some music he created rejected by his religious affiliation, and that he was hurt by that. I got the sense it would've been around that time: mid-late 2000's. I didn't get a strong feeling that it was either true or untrue, so I must've not been certain about the reliability of the source, but my instincts are leaning a little bit more towards "true". Either way, a 2nd Rainbow Children could be a very nice album to hear.

One album that was definitely rejected by the governing body of the Watchtower Society was the cover album of Jehovah's Witness songs (their version of hymns) that Prince and others contributed to that was orchestrated by George Benson. That project was even criticised directly (though not by name) in an internal publication for JWs, in order to discourage others from attempting the same.

Could this TRC follow-up be The Last December album initially promised to NPGMC members? Would make sense as that is the title of the last song on TRC, and that album leaned heavily on a narrative concept.

His worst album doesn't need a second part.
Keep it. | |

Keep it. How can it be his worst album? All the songs are really good on the rainbow children.

I wish! TRC is a great album to punch a higher floor to. Especially the title track!

Like it or not, I love the mystic behind this and the first album I heard as well that the 2nd one was interpretations of JW Hymns and that Prince was going to use Paisley Park at times at JW worship services

Rainbow children are the more recent souls to come to earth, and more will be born in the future, with crystal children as their parents. There is not too much written about them. They have a rainbow aura and very strong energy, so they don't need as much sleep (lucky parents!).
