. Yea, and you know that was all a publicity stunt, and she released her album when Prince died and exclusively on Tidal, which is owned by the Carters! . Even Kanye said it. Beyonce won't perform at the Grammy's unless she WON.

The Grammys are from an industry that Prince was consistently dismissive of, whether on the business end in regards to the record companies, the streaming services, the music media who he treated with arrogance most of his career (not to say I don't blame him at times), etc. I do think they (including the critics) did not like how he came across interpersonally and image wise and skewered him repeatedly and gleefully when his creative output faltered from his heyday in the 80s. I think the extremely low metacritic score for HnR2 and most of his newer material is reflective of that. Even AOA was out-rated by dozens of mediocre albums the year it was released. I don't think that any of his post 1980s would necessarily been viewed as album of the year by non-fans, which I have no problem with. What ticks me off is that I don't think they were approached by a open mind by many (including fans). Similarly, I don't think it even entered their minds to consider HnR2 for a serious Grammy nomination. I would be surprised if most of them even listened to it. I am not saying that it would have gotten many awards it they had given it serious consideration, but I still think some of this comes from being as dismissive towards Prince as he was towards them (at least earlier in his career). It is even more unlikely they seriously listened to all the songs closely to see if any would be designated for a best R&B song. For a more beloved genius artist, I think every effort would have been given to see if any of the most recent material merited a posthumous nomination. While I think a valid argument could be made that HitNRun2 wasn't one of the 5 best albums of the year, it is hard for me to believe that songs nominated are all better than Black Muse or Revelation, even to non-fans. Sorry for the harangue, but this just has me ! Consolation comes from knowing that Prince probably didn't care about this stuff!
Addendum: I forgot to mentiion that the songs and albums are often promoted by the record companies to be considered for being nominated. Who wants to bet Prince got a lot of promotion in this way ! [Edited 12/6/16 18:33pm]

. - Let´s face it. Grammys arent about the ´Best Album´ technically speaking. They get the ´hottest´ albums of the year and choose the ´best´. Sometimes, they choose the best. Other times - most of the times - dont. And honestly, Drake and Beyonce´s albums had such big impact on the industry this year. Saw several critics praising Beyonce and both Beyonce and Drake were in the top of the charts for a while, something that didnt happen to Phase 2. The critics werent too enthusiasmed about it too. . I agree. Bieber will never be in the same league as Bowie or Prince. Honestly Bieber had a solid pop album. ..he makes me sick but the album was good. Drakes album was shit though. Truly garbage. Like somebody else has said...Prince likely wouldn't give a fuck if he was still here. We know he wasnt into their games so lets take it with a grain of salt.
