(I felt he was trying to hide it.) Then I noticed from other clips too that on that third night, he seems tired or something. His eyes look a bit crooked too. Maybe this was a sign of his getting older, or maybe he was just tired by the last night at his age. 3 nights in a row is a lot for anyone at 54 years old who doesn't sleep much. And there might've been after-parties after each show (?). That's a lot of energy to put out. It makes me wonder if he was actually aging like the rest of us humans (!!) but was very good at hiding it in those last few years with, as RS said in their last interview with him, "heavily retouched" photos that he would put out. Of course I love Prince the MOST as this older man he grew into with all his eye wrinkles and humanness. I even think I saw a bald spot on the back of his head through his afro in another recent video. I have always been most interested in him in his last years and thought he was most sexy and beautiful then, as an older man. [Edited 12/14/16 5:28am] What struck me most about the videos I've seen so far is the emotion you talk about and also how proud he seemed to of the band. It would be very easy for me as a long-time, somewhat jaded Prince fan to approach any shows where Prince is merely the singer/dancer/band-leader as a lesser show. He's such a brilliant guitarist, bassist & keyboardist that any shows lacking him exhibiting those skills is never going to stand amongst my favorites. To the family/estate/Montreux Jazz Fest..... work something out!! These AND the '09 shows need to come out ASAP!! Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors. |

I'm wondering if it was the diamond drops as well... but all three women looked sad to me? I'm used to Hannah looking pretty happy and she read to me as almost distraught, especially at the beginning? Or, I'm just dramatic and projecting all over the place. Probably that.

These shows are fantastic, but please, people, STOP paying for them!! I disagree, but I understand. A simple google search will lead you to digital files you can play on your devices and/or burn to disc, depending on your preference. Don't hate your neighbors. He's been sexy his entire life, but something about how he carried himself and how humble he was also made him sexy. Seeing Prince age was a beautiful thing. You could tell he was enjoying life. Night 3 was amazing.
The sampler set with Love/Raise up was a real party. Adrian looked like he was having an amazing time. The crowd chanting as one throughout gave chills. [Edited 12/15/16 19:19pm] | |

Show 1 was my favorite. I hated show 2. It seemed very flat and just boring compared to show 1. Show 3 was good but I don't think he captured anything close to the 2009 shows. There was something special with those shows. Show 3 was supposed to top it but it seemed like most of the guitar or at least 50 percent was Donna and her solos all sound the same to me. I was really expecting Prince to cut up on guitar but he really didn't. I still enjoyed it but Show 1 stole it for me. The energy, the band, the setlist was just awesome!! I am mostly a rock guy too so this was a pleasant surprise as I did not have high hopes for show 1 and 2 going in as I was eyeing show 3. Overall Prince went 4 for 5 at Montreax with my rankings below.
1. Show 2 2009 2. Show 1 2009 3. Show 1 2013 4. Show 3 2013 5. show 2 2013 - a real crapper.

Strangely, I didn't cry over that or feel any authentic emotion. I waited for it because I read it here, but it didn't happen. I felt it was more of Prince the actor. Maybe it was just me. | |
