I think we have all got used to it, hearing it for years, including concerts but... This IS the true classic. Amazing use of instruments, so basic its a wonder, so funky its off the hook, so catchy it was a hit. Songs like Anna Stesia are great, but its only getting the votes because of the exposure it has received over the last 3 years. Its like a forgotten fan classic, a bit like the Ladder and All the Critics are becoming now. Amazing how Prince manages to create "best ever" songs with a little concert airplay. How Come, She's always in my hair, Ladder, Annastesia etc. See the pattern. They are all great songs, but Alphabet St is a classic. Prince should leave it on the shelf for 20 years, then bring it back. We'd be drooling! He'll "relaunch" others in the coming years I'm sure. Watch our fave lists for The love we make, Something in the water, Elephants and flowers...the list goes on. Personally, I'm waiting for the relaunch of With You. Its just around the corner.. By the way, my vote is for Alphabet St! I don't think anyone had forgotten about Anna Stesia before the past 3 years! He only really started playing it because the diehards like us wanted to hear shit like that! Unfortunately, it doesn't have the same emotion or beauty these days as it did back in '88. He keeps adding that Keith Murray hip hop beat to it that just kills the lushness of it! As far as Something In The Water...and Elephants and Flowers, he's already done them at the past Celly, and I'm sure we'll be hearing more of them. You'd like to hear With You, and I'd LOVE to hear "In Love"!!! As far as my fav Lovesexy song, I'm stuck between When 2 R In Love and Anna Stesia! Can't decide! | |
