Says person who baselessly accuses people of stealing.

I did not accuse you of stealing so why are you so concerned? Did you not read the Ebony article were Prince mentioned people stealing stuff or Alan Leeds saying music was stolen? It is plausible that some things that are being sold were stolen.

It these people did not steal anything then they have no worries. If they did I say again I hope they choke on the money. I will never take this back.

Laura, why don't you ask the Soul Train Awards people about how they programmed this apparently very important and indicative awards show? Again, if you're suggesting that the esteemed Soul Train people intentionally did something (e.g., refused to include a Prince tribute) that lowered the appeal of their TV show for their target audience because that shady cabal of suits "don't like Prince" and wanted to spite his memory, then that is the very definition of the word "conspiracy."

-

And for the record, this is the last time I engage with you. After being on the receiving end of quite a few insults from you over the past months -- and seeing your insatiatble need to argue along with your utter lack of friendliness or good humor -- I realized that there's more engaging ways to spend my time, and, like many, many orgers, have greatly reduced my participation here. So have fun, and god bless.

laurarichardson said:

No conspiracy at all. If you think Prince was beloved by the all the suits in the industry you are wrong. Also why would the audience for the Soul Train awards not be fans? How many fans of Teddy Riely and Brandy do you think tuned in?

I said no conspiracy they just do not give a shit about him and Soul Train was sold off to some company who it is not run by the same family that honored Prince and had him on the show.

The rest of your comments are the same old crying so good bye and good luck. Letting someone you don't know on a message board stopping you from commenting is a little silly.

As one of his many fans, I could not care less if some dumb award show acknowledges Prince or not, he certainly didn't need it while he was alive, and he doesn't now. The world knows who Prince is and how great he was, and not him nor his fans need some award show to tell them that, so it doesn't bother me at all!

I totally forgot to watch it last night, but after hearing there was no tributes or mention of his name, I don't feel so bad.

.

It is quite disappointing, I have to say. I also wonder, if the AMAs did not award Prince for "Purple Rain" last week, would they have even mentioned him? hmm

People as talented as Bowie and Prince suffer(ed) from industry jealousy. Makes everyone else look bad. Plus suits can't think past the next 5 minutes.

neither Prince nor Bowie was paid tribute to nor mentioned at the MTV music awards this year either...both icons to which MTV has given props to in the past stating that "if it weren't for them (Prince,Bowie)....MTV probably would've never even made it past the 1st season". yes, Prince didn't care for awards shows...but not even a mention during said award show is outlandish, considering P and others kept their ass afloat!

AGREE, its pretty disrespectful. MTV now caters to the current pop stars BUT what would have been wrong in paying a small tribute to Prince, ONE of the pioneers of the MTV network or even David Bowie??? It is important for the young generation to be exposed to pioneers and artists that came before the current crop especially ones that played a intergral role in pioneering the music industry into what it is now. I don't like how TODAYS industry disrespects legends, I really don't. It feels like they hype up current acts more than legends.

.

So true! These award shows and the music industry today is just crap! I think it is common courtesy to honor a music legend on a music award show. When Natalie Cole passed away, I don't even recall any tributes on award shows being done in her honor. Prince and Bowie were two of the greatest music legends that ever lived, and the lack of respect shown is beyond disgusting! We live in the era of a 2-second attention span and it's just sad.

I know, Prince would probably not even give a rats arse about these stupid awards, but at least show some respect and acknowledge an artist's work after they died, geesh! These record companies love you when you are making them filthy rich, but after you die, they could care less about your legacy!

.

It's about principle. It's about doing what is right.

.

When we lose a great legend, such as Prince, you start to see people's true colors! Greedy vultures!

So I just finished watching the Soul Train awards and there was oddly no mention of Prince. eek I watched mid way through the award show so I figured maybe a tribute was given in the first half but it wasn't! This is outrageous given Prince appeared on the show numerous of times and was one of the pillars of Soul music. This is not the first time Prince has been snubbed by an award show. At the VMA's this year, there also was no acknowledgement or tribute to Prince. So far the only two award shows that have given Prince a tribute have been Billboards, Ama's BET. Why does it feel like Prince is not being given his rightful respect by the industry? I feel that there should definitly be more tributes given since he was one of the last living geniuses and icons of our time. I noticed too that it feels like the iindustry has move on from Prince and its like"business as usual", thoughts? WTF Prince is a LEGEND and deserves better, Thoughts? I know this won't change the fact that Prince is a legend and Icon but this has been very disappointing.

For some reason last night I didn't care about the Soul Train Awards, but I was pissed about the VMA's because they did a tribute for MJ in 2009. I don't recall Soul Train Awards doing anything for MJ either. The only 2 awards I can think of coming up are the Grammys of course and the Image Awards. I remember at 2010 image awards though, they had a brief acknowledgement of MJ and I really expected more.

I guess I can delete the recording from my dvr then. Regardless of anything, I just can't get past the seeming lack of regard for a man with the genius of Prince. I don't get it and it makes me sad that there wasn't even a mention. Didn't have to be any big deal at all....just a mention, just the recognition of the immense talent. Not too much to ask for in my opinion.

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod

I stopped watching awards shows years ago, even when P was alive and I only just saw some of his award show appearances recently on YouTube.

Frankly, award shows tend to bore me. I'm not into the people they usually have on the show so I don't really care about the shows.

I only watced if I found out P might be on. Now, I don't bother.

Afterbbthe awesome BET tribute, then thenAMA award, I'm good.

We fans know who P was and his worth and legacy aren't dependant on him being recognized by an industry he spent most of his career fighting against. He wasn't impressed by them and neither am I.

sad

I know sad but I still think he can at least be recognized. There are some artists that get a ton of attention and haven't done as nearly as much Prince did for music, its disgusting to me.

If they honored Michael, IMO it makes no sense why they would not honor Prince given he was the only other Black artist besides Michael playing on MTV during the height of the MTV video culture in the 80s. Soul Train did do something for Michael. If I recall they gave him some high award or some award I can't remember now but Prince been on Soul Train numerous times so it makes no sense why they would not at least recognize him. Its not like he was never on the show or had no association with Soul Train.

Eh

So they didn't give him an award.

I'm more excited about the other Org thread I just read with the picture of a check he donated.

Someone posted there that a reporter or somebody figured out P has donated an estimated $200million to charity. so nearly half of his money. And he still has $300million left? That's crazy generous. An incredible legacy. And that's not counting whatever profits will come from the vault stuff.

To me, that's a better recognition than a shallow award.
