I was there! He said something about 'take care of Amy'. He should have heeded his own advice. Both gone 10 years later. I remember it like yesterday

I am sure he knew she was not in a good place, and quite sure he felt sorry for her in her state of alcoholism. The good thing is that he cared enough to even say it. Trust that Prince cared for people who were hurting. While he may have witnessed her struggles, it didn't mean he himself was struggling with alcohol or drugs. Regardless of how he died, his plan was to live.

An amazing night, was absolutely fantastic when the curtain went back and Amy was standing there. I'll never forget the way she looked at him while he played the solos, she was in awe.

RIP sad

She was a fan and when she found he wanted to play/work with her she was over the moon.

I remember it too...I believe his words were something like - "you need to look after her", or "take care of her"...because she's one of yours basically. The sentiment was, don't attack this girl, she's vulnerable, but definitely worth taking care of.

He then said something about having tears in his eyes, which seemed genuine...so he stepped off the stage briefly. I also remember seeing Amy's partner Blake Fielder-Civil in the wings...just bad news full stop.

Had no idea we'd lose both of them so quickly (Amy & Prince).

Agree also that there's a painful irony in Prince not protecting himself.

There's a great audience recording of the audio. Don't know where it would be found now though.

RIP sad

Girl

I was lucky enough to be there right at the front!

Amy was so small (just as small or maybe even smaller than Prince!) and her voice was amazing.

Another thing I remember was just how happy Prince was during the whole concert...

I wish they had captured this for the documentary on Amy. A highlight of the film was her making music with Tony Bennett, but it would have been incredible to see Prince and Amy in this way as well. I am glad to hear that Prince was so protective of her. He was more sensitive, at least in recent years, than he is given credit for.
