i totally get this and agree. i'm not much for posthumus awards anyway. butt prince did win 6-7 grammys in his lifetime. the most recent one was in 2004, i think, for 'call my name'. i'm more concerned with "tributes". there is no excuse for not acknowleding his legendary talent and career in the field. that's not too much to ask or expect, which is why it's so shady. mtv has sucked for 20yrs but prince and bowie had contributed so much to video and that channel, for them to be left out is plain shitty.

I'm not entirely sure if I NEED Prince to be recognised by such awards.

I don't follow the charts as they are meaningless and I don't follow reward shows as they are used for marketing and propaganda.

As a fan, naturally I enjoy listening to the music, so to me Prince is all about the music.

Awards and recognition doesn't change that and will never change that.

I think there is a lot of jealousy towards Prince. He was multi-talented, and no other performer can even come close to him! It's just disgusting to me at the lack of respect for such an incredible Icon! Makes me so sad that he is gone -- music will never be the same again. No one seems to give a damn about his legacy in the music industry, except for his beloved fans, US!!

WOW, this is a sympathy nomination. If they were going to give him a bullshit nomination, why even nominate the album to begin with? Bowie should have been nominated for album of the year and both Prince and Bowie should be given legendary grammy honors. This is a different music industry and it doesn't cater to legends or artistry anymore, so fuq em!

I actually agree with both of your points. Part of why I hoped for some HnR recognition is that it is a very solid and accessible swan song that hardly anyone outside of the orgers knows about. This just seemed like an oversight to me, one I thought would be corrected by a nomination. The one thing the award shows have had in the past is some respect for the legends that have just passed, but apparently not this year.I guess I will have to Letitgo.

Thank you, I appreciate that. I also hoped that Prince would get some recognition for HnR too, as he deserves that, and much, much more! I give up on these award shows. Maybe 20-years ago, they meant something, but today, it just seems like a total waste. Besides, I can't even stand all the illuminati bullshit.
