We Can Funk is, of course, a song by Prince for Prince (with a bit of help from George). I'd certainly pay to get an official release of the earlier, superior version though.

I'd absolutely buy a collection of Prince's guide tracks for other artists. His original version of Open Book is one example of a song that should be out there for everyone to hear. But I think it's going to take a while, quite possibly years, before we see this kind of release.

Most of the stuff in the vault is demos, as Prince said on Arsenio and a few other interviews, he works the song to a certain point then either continues it for a project or puts it in the vault to revisit and finish later. This makes sense to me since halfway through one song he probably had two more in his head that he has to get out.

Diamonds and Pearls beginnings is a testament to just how much if a difference there can be between the completed demo song and the final production version with overdubs, etc. Diamonds and Pearls the song specifically off that boot is a great example of this. Most of the vault cuts we have heard so far, along with probably a large portion that we havent heard, are unfinished song to Prince as he stated in those interviews.

That being said, I would definitely buy an official box set of demos. I would also buy an official box set of the final production of those very same demos (for those that were actually completed)

I think we need this, forget all the "Forever" type nonsense where the most known hitz are repackaged again and again. Most buyers of posthumous releases will be hardcore Prince fans anyway.
