I have to say, they really did a great job and didn't shy away from P's lyrically controversial stuff.

If it wasn't somethng they wanted to sing, tey simply played music during those parts, but they gave it their all in a way I haven't even seen professionals play.

They were frighteningly on key and on tempo with P's performances we've seen.

Thoroughly enjoyed this.

Yes truly! Leaves Madonna's pitiful performance in the dust. I went to the official tribute concert and I must say that this performance was more consistent and satisfying in some ways. Small band, tight and clean. I appreciate that they stayed true to the spirit and the form. Didn't succumb to the temptation to go overboard and get all self-indulgent on my ass, which was the downside of some of the Official Tribute performances.

I'm finishing up watching it now. It was cool to see what arrangement of any particular song they used. Like the G-rated "DMSR", compared to "Darling Nikki" left mostly intact exact "masturbating". Using some drum samples as a base for songs was pretty cool, too. You can tell they really loved his music, and wanted to do right by it.

Can't wait to check this out! For those that don't know, Kevin was a very funky artist from the late 80's/early 90s. He had a hit called Don't Shut Me Out. I saw him on Video Soul (Donnie Simpson) as a guest along with with Carole Davis, one of Prince's sort-of-protegees who wrote "Slow Love" with him for SOTT.

Well, that's no great insight though, right? I mean, I don't believe they are trying to recreate the voice here anyway. He made a good point in the video that hit home for me, when he mentioned that because there was no service for fans to go to per se, and our mourning was left to ourselves, that these sorts of gatherings to play music and sing the songs is our best way to grieve and celebrate. So whether it was him, her, or someone else, the heart is pure on the intentions here.

They definitely aren't a tribute band (like Princess or Purple Reign). They're just a cover band that loved Prince. The guy said he did some session work at Paisley Park, too, so at least he has some street cred! haha

The best so far... I'm hoping the Grammys do it right. It's Time for Bruno and THE Time to do a joint tribute.

They were pretty great. My one complaint is I can't stand those strained, Nashville country lady vocals. Otherwise that was mighty impressive.

LOVED THIS! love love It's far and away the best tribute I've heard so far, including above all the paid ones. Just amazing, Kevin and Bethany really knocked it out of the park, but the other members of the band were also fabulous! I FINALLY feel like Prince has received a tribute worthy of him and his work nod lol

Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end nod
