Piano & A Microphone Tour ******************* NO SOLICITING FOR BOOTLEGS! Discussion is fine, so long as the bootleg is not being promoted e.g. pre-release; requests/offers to share or copy, and links to download or bootleg sites are not. Posting Prince and associated artist videos from sites such as YouTube is also not allowed. Posts of this nature will be deleted and repeat offenders will be first warned, and then banned. Troll threads, fake tracklists, and attention seeking rumor threads will be also be swiftly dealt with. These rules are strictly enforced! - luv4u - prince.org moderator *******************
The Paisley Park Music Gala and the Atlanta shows are both essential. I beleive these shows, as well as the rest of the tour, should all be released. If done correctly (both audio and visual performances) they would create an amazing bookmark to his career.
Tidal or other digital services could accomodate the sale of all the shows without much overhead. It' a win-win for fans and streaming providers. Hope the estate is considering these shows for immediate release.
Wondering if I'm alone on these thoughts.

Totally agree with all that you posted. He seemed so at home with his audience in an emotionally deep way on this tour. A gentleness and maturity too. Sure hope they at least release the two shows you mentioned.

Have the Australian concert for over 2 months now, but have not felt ready to listen. I'll try today. Thanks! Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince

I listened to part of an Atlanta show. I can deal with other stuff, but this one stopped me in my tracks, and I stopped the track. I think it wasn't that it was his final show. It was that he sounded so fucking good. Often times with the band, you can take little breaks and moments to catch your breath or do something that doesn't strain your voice, or whatever. But just a piano and a mic? You have to get present and on top of the game. And you could tell he really was. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I can totally relte to the "holding pattern" as you described it regarding these shows. I rarely listen to shows that aren't recorded on soundboard, but the Paisley Music Gala and the first Atlanta show has terrific sound. The Paisley recording is so intimate as the croud is much quieter. When the time comes to listen, you will be overwhelmed and appreciate the document. That I am sure of. My car rides to and from work are now really something of an emotial roller coaster.
There is no reason to not put these shows out in good quality.

So true. I was listening to part of the last show yesterday, just to check out the recording quality - I'm not ready to actually *listen* to the show yet - and I just thought he sounded amazing. Just can't square it with a man who was in poor health. He sounded at the top of his game.

I received the Sydney show from a friend a few days before Prince died and cried when listening to Do Me Baby, and I don't think I had ever cried over a Prince song before. I listened to it over and over after he passed and it was helpful to me to come to grips with his passing. There's a part where he's playing and he says, "Sydney, did we have a good time?" and when I'm listening to that in my car, I always start crying and say out loud, "Yes Prince, we did.." and smile....

I have listened to most of the shows and he was inspired on this tour. No way did he think he was going to die. As reported he had made plans for shows for the future. Why buy that new guitar? Its still breaks the heart that he didnt get to go further around the world with these shows showing people this side to his talents. Us hardcore new about it but theres still plenty who dont. I listen to the whole first Sidney show the other night, and was blown away by his performance. He had so much more to give, just heartbreaking.

Yes, and his continued brilliance live as illustrated by the tour flies in the face of the stereotype of someone who is in the late stages of addiction. Baffling.

I have a recording of every show except the Canadian ones. Best damn shows ever. If the estate puts out official recordings I would buy in a heartbeat. And I want every one because no two shows were the same. Paisley Park is in your heart

I saw the 2 shows at Paisley Park and they were amazing, especially the first show. I saw at least 2 cameras filming the shows. On the Paisley Park tours they are doing now, they show FREEURSELF from the 2nd show. It looks fantastic. They absolutely need to release these on DVD. Does anyone know if any other shows on the tour were filmed? At the last party, Prince said he was going to release the audio of the 2nd show from Atlanta. He said they were going to clean up the audience screaming parts. He went on to play the first 30 minutes of the show. They should honor his wish and release it. TRUE BLUE

It ain't no melodrama bullshit! It's simply you not wanting to face the truth. When you listen to the ENTIRE show you could tell he knew the end was near. I don't know if he knew it would be that next Thursday, but he knew. When he sings "I could never take the place of your man" when he gets to the line "she couldn't stop crying cuz she knew he was gone to stay" He had to stop singing and he was just playing the piano. When he was finished, he even said " I forget how emotional these songs can be, get it together Prince". He NEVER said that all the other times he performed that song. Plus Tyka just said on ET that she had been preparing for 2 years. He was ill! He could probably feel in this spirit that this might be his final show and we as fans know the consummate performer he was, he's gonna make his LAST his BEST! He was a PRO TO THE FULLEST! All I know is that these shows need to see the light of day. I know there are countless recordings in the vault to sift through and figure out how to release. This however is easy. Clean up the recordings and put them out. I think we need to keep making noise about this or they may get lost in the shuffle. Keep tweeting the family. All they have to do is send them to Tidal. They won't interfere with other releases. Fans will find these recordings and find comfort in them.

Loved the tour. I was lucky enough to go to BOTH Auckland shows of the tour and saw all of Prince's shows ever in my home country - New Zealand. Basically Prince pandered to Adorecream's needs and played most of Sign o the Times over both shows including Adore. . It was a blessing and a wonderment to be there, even more precious as it will never happen again. Sad, but Prince proved he was a God. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I was fortunate enough to see him Feb at the Sydney Opera House and it is a night I will treasure always. I have not been able to bring myself to listen to Atlanta Show 2 yet, and only listened to Show 1 two weeks ago. It is still too raw - but I hope to get to the point to listen soon. Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

I very much enjoyed the boots that were released before Prince died. Since then, though, I can't bear to listen. I'm okay with his other music, but the piano shows are just too heartwrenching right now. One day I hope to be able to listen to the rest. If the estate were to release any of these shows, I would snap them up immediately. I can't see how they couldn't, as these are the most pure, emotional, introspective shows of Prince's career. This tour needs to be officially documented.

It seems essential to release at least one of these concerts, perhaps one of the Atlanta ones, with much well deserved hype. It is absolute proof for the world that the commonly mistaken perception that Prince was in some type of linear creative decline since the 1980s, meaning that he should have been horrific by this tour, is a total myth. I also think there is a genuine selling point for the more casual fan that there is both something familiar and something new to them.

The thing I'm sad about is I didn't get to see his show and I was looking forward to it had he came to my town. He hadn't been to my town in 12 years. The eerie date: 4/12 was the last time he came to my town. I badly wanted to see because it was very different and much more refreshing than the same songs performed on the Welcome 2 concerts and with 3rdeyegirl.

Him buying the guitar was his last gift to himself. And as far his him posting future dates. The guitar, the piano, future dates. This was his life. Even if you know you're leaving. You just look to the future anyway, even if you're not gonna be here. Listen to the shows again. He has NEVER EVER been that personal and open with us.
