Would SOTT CD still be considered a classic IF......

...The music from the movie (which generally had faster tempos and different arrangements) was used instead of what was released?

For example, Play in the Sunshine in the SOTT movie is nearly double time (tempo) of what's on CD. I think it being faster makes the song more interesting and appealing

Didn't want TRC, went to One Nite Alone, can't get a freakin' nuff of TRC.

Alone is better Live though, imoho, heck all Prince music is sheer perfection Live.
That is the one thing I LOVE about Prince, he sounds exactly like his product.

Live, a lot of people stink.

I heart heart heart the versions of 'Hot Thing' and ESPECIALLY 'If I Was Your Girlfriend'. One of my all-time favourite live moments. I could listen to it ALL day!

Beautiful...

No. Different show. There are several boots of the movie. The first one was "It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night".

I must admit, I really like a lot of the 'movie'
versions of some of the SOTT tracks better than
the album versions. I think SOTT would be an
even better album if it had included studio
versions of the following tracks that were based
on the way they were performed live...

I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man
(Faster, with the extended intro, and more
interesting guitar solo)

If I Was Your Girlfriend
(there's something about this track that just
works so much better live. I'd like to hear
a 'live in the studio' version without the
'Camille' vocals, and with the more 'church
organ' sounding keyboards)

It's Gonna Be A Beautiful Night
(Faster, funkier, and more going on)

Don't know, it's hard to say. But in general with most artists there are many songs that differ in tempo during live gigs from the recorded/released version.

Hell and No

For example, Play in the Sunshine in the SOTT movie is nearly double time (tempo) of what's on CD. I think it being faster makes the song more interesting and appealing

Thats only because you have the orignal release to work from to see the differences and enjoy the different nuances. If it was only the movie versions released orignally that probably wouldn't be as appealing to you as it is now.

I converted the movie to digital audio and burned a tracked CD -- will share. No harm if you own the movie.

You're so right, because Prince always used 'real' instruments, to make 'real' music. Now, everyone knows he's a master at the soundboard in the studio. Yet in still, most of his music is genuine, in the sense; it wouldn't be hard to pick up your fav instrument, and play along smile

Unlike artist in concert today, whom have their record playing in the background, and they're simply lip-synching, or horribly singing along off key (God forbid the CD skips lol).

When we here Prince sing/play live, we're most often satisfied because, he uses his real voice in the studio, as well as a few instruments.
