I think he could have had that, but he pushed her away when he learned of his illness. Sometimes we can be too proud for our own good. It breaks my heart that he died alone. It didn't have to be that way.

I do think there is something to that...

There is a lot of evidence to suggest that they were in a relationship (although not necessarily having penetrative sex - P did say he was celibate, remember). However, in Andy's writing about him, she says he 'broke her heart'.

.

I think she was willing to do whatever was necessary to be with him - but Prince, to my mind, didn't want her to waste time on him and loved her enough to set her free...

.
To him - to both of them - it is indeed 'the saddest story that has ever been told'. sad

He was a prophet. He did not even understand some of his words, which were prophetic. I also listen to Clouds and think about the similarities with what happened in Moline. I think about the fact that he basically died in Moline and came back and died 7 days later. So much irony. He died on the anniversary pf the day he wrote the lyrics that Tracy died after a long fought civil war. So much more to explore on this topic.
He was not a prophet, he was mortal and followed the JW faith. He didnt forsee his death as he was making future plans and many have spoken of those plans. Please stop trying to turn Prince into a religion.

In ancient times, musicians were synonomous with being a living prophet.

I think he followed the "I'm celibate" statement with, something like "I try." Personally, at one time, I think they were in the midst of a full-blown, committed love affair.

prince "setting her free" cracks me up the most. maybe she's the lesbian in 'da bourgoise' . maybe she's the one who left him for "a 23 yo kid/girl" in 'the sweeter she is'. maybe he played her like he's played countless people for 30+ yrs. capped her head up with whatever she wanted to hear and then moved on. prince could write play and sing very passionatley about people while simulteneously treating them like shit and or dumping them. will these fuffy-headed orgers ever see reason?

Hey Fam

So I had a 5 hr flight last night and I finally listened to PP Piano show (early)...I was also there. It dawned on me that the lyrics to THE BREAKDOWN it finally hit me that I think he was in fact talking about a disease and the breakdown of his body. I went to listen to the main albums of AOA and HnR1, the affirmations, the talk of the "cancer", give me back the time, etc it's starting to make sense...I only wish I could understand what the song JUNE means.

Also how foretelling that someones is calling out..MR NELSON, MR NELSON like trying to wake him up, much like I'm sure what happened that fateful day.

Every mention of time, clouds, etc....it all makes sense. I do belive he knew something and the elevator incidnet was an accident. But I still feel the WILL is somewere...even in the Elevator hidden.

Just my thoughts

Peace

I gave my interpretation of 'June' in another thread - post number 58 - maybe it'll give some 'food (pasta???) for thought'! wink

Lunatics, both of you.

Dude, Soft and Wet was about the pain he'd be suffering 40 years later.

Sugarcane = drugs
Lover/Baby/Girl = Prince (duh, he was Gemini and was singing to his female half)

Think about it, it's a prophetic drugs song,

Every time I'm with you, you just love me to death

the signs were there from his very first single hammer

Do you actually listen to lyrics? Prince's whole life is in his songs. He even said so numerous times and I believe he knew his time was short. I don't think he planned to take that posion but I believe we are going to find out what was going with his health and some of you are going to feel very silly. Your comments are really out of place on this topic.

I am so tired of he treated these women like shit. Do you really think a young lady is going out with a super rich 50 year old because she expects to get a ring and a walk down to the wedding chapel.

Prince had a rep as a womanizer and I doubt any young lady he was running around with was unaware of is rep. Some of these woman wanted something from him and this type of stuff has been going on since the dawn of time.

i'm not 100% sure that they were going out at all. i will concede that she is most likely the last of his flings. even so, i don't quite understand ur reasoning. if i know a dog can bite me and has a rep for biting strangers and i still approach/engage the dog and it bites me, does it mean i wasn't bitten just bcos i knew about the dog's rep? being bitten is being bitten. being lead on and then dumped is being lead on and then dumped. sure it might be my own fault for being there, but the dog bit me just the same. these young hens might have been lead on and then dumped just the same.

and as someone else pointed out, one of AA's recent songs talks about getting the cold shoulder and the person making this harder than it has to be. sounds exactly like prince's MO with both lovers and ex associates.

--- Ok don't refer to anyone else as fluffy headed. A lot of these women from their own mouths said they knew Prince was running around with other women. They went along with it and it was foolish. There are women who think they can change men into what they want not realizing this can't be done. As far as Andy goes I believe she was his last so what serious girlfriend. He was walking around wearing a shirt with her picture on the front. The drew rings on their fingers. She was sitting on his piano in concert while he was singing to her. Apparently there is a clip of the two of them singing Let's Get It On but you keep thinking they were just friends.

I think it was Dibblekins who did a wonderful study of the song June on one of the other threads

Peace
