Niccolo Machiavelli ~The Prince~ Niccolo Machiavelli :THE PRiNCE
I just picked the book up in a thrift store for $5.00 last week...
Its a heavy read, but light at the same time.... According the Machiavelli, The Prince ultimately desires Goodness,he understands the Power of Virtue, but is not beyond being brutal when necessary. The Prince is both Adored and Feared,
Some of its a bit long winded but the book analyzes Power, and what personal qualities a person must cultivate to behave in Princely Fashion, there by, ulitimately creating positive effect.
Has anyone read it ?

Yes, in high school. Being machiavellian is not always considered a good thing, but it is brilliant strategy.

I haven't read it but I've always dug Niccolo's vibe and some of his quotes SO I've always wanted to buy it. When I get money, this book will be high on my shopping list "I was here in the beginning and I'll be here forever more"

No but it seems that being a Prince is a good thing though

Have any of you all read the Black Album by Hanif Kureishi (1996)? https://www.amazon.com/Ha...ont_book_1
Not about P directly, but it was such an awesome read, as I recall. I think you'd like that too. Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince

It's been out of copyright for a couple of years... https://www.gutenberg.org...1232-h.htm I read it in college and thought it was interesting. Kind of a guide to getting and keeping power. Historically speaking, there have been arguments suggesting that it was actually written as a work of satire criticizing dictatorial governments. I am not qualified to judge, but reading it that way definitely is more enjoyable, IMO. Just something to think about as you read.

Didn't Wendy call Prince the most machiavellian person she had ever met?

Yes..I read that somewhere too....
and if you read this book, you will see its actually a compliment..
In Machiavellian terms a Prince is a just, righteous and compassionate Ruler who can be fierce and uncompromising, but is always aspiring for the common good despite how others may percieve him to be...
