I've just watched a clip on YouTube of P at Allophones Arena, Sydney April 2012, called Prince Solo Dance Routine. Wow, he still had the moves at 54, the clip lasts 90 seconds but boy can he still use those hips. For me, it just makes me question things again. Would you let me wash your hair? |

He had hip surgery not hip replacement in 2010 but it does not mean he did not need pain killers. If he had joint pain there is little that can be done to make it go away. |

While good and fun to watch, there was nothing particularly athletic about that performance. |

Why? If he's on pain meds to kill the pain, then obviously he can move with relative ease (I don't mean he's doing somersaults or anything). He did what he had to so he could perform. There's nothing to question, really. The meds, coupled with him changing his footwear as far back was 2001, certainly helped him cope with any discomfort. The guy wasn't hobbled over even on a bad day. But he might have been moving slower.
Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

When I saw him at the forum for the last 3 shows of the 21 nite stand tour I was pleasantly surprised with how much he was running sliding and jumping around. At one point he was crawling down the symbol on just his hands with his feet swinging behind him. It blew my mind with just how healthy he looked at his age! My mom was even shocked because when she saw him in 2004 she said he didn't do much dancing. . I was also just happy for him because he looked healthier and more built. Compared to two years earlier around the Lotusflow3r era he just looked so dainty. There's that one performance of Dance 4 me and No More Candy that he is just sitting on a stool! Whereas two years later has ripping his shirt open and hopping all over the place. It gave me just a tiny glimpse of the excitement I would've felt watching him in his 1986 heyday, as I was only 18 when I saw him in 2011. . I personally don't mind if he had ever danced or moved but the difference in his overall physical health does point to some sort of surgery happening in I would guess 2009-2010. It makes sense as I know a lot of dancers who are older and get hip surgery are super active for a couple years but they soon get worn out, and the pain returns. I assume this is what happened to him! . |
