High the album

I used to have a hard time appreciating this one. Always sounded to me like 10 tracks cobbled together in a playlist with no unifying feel.
2 things changed it for me and I'm felling it:
Hearing the tracks in lossless quality and heating the 13-track configuration starting with High, My Medallion, Vavoom, Sex Me, etc.
Given the way the songs flow easily from one to another I think this is the real configuration, not the ten track one published by Uptown in 2001 and listed on Wikipedia.
Thoughts?

This configuration has been in circulation for years on a variety of boots.

But most recently, it was leaked as a lossless version of High.

What's questionable is if it's from an actual lossless single source, or if it's simply assembled from the tracks that have been made available on other album configurations (Chocolate Invasion, Slaughterhouse, Hit n Run Tour limited CD singles, etc.).

There's no question in my mind when I listen that it from a lossless source, as the songs have never sounded this good (and "full", comparable to CD audio, not low bitrate mp3's). But High did circulate right after TIDAL made the two npgmc albums (Chocolate Invasion and Slaughterhouse) available in FLAC, so I'm wondering if someone "assembled" it from other FLAC sources, or if there was an actual CD-R of High leaked. Either scenario is plausible.

No I don't think High is on TIDAL. I don't have TIDAL, but I understand that The Chocolate Invasion and The Slaughterhouse are available on TIDAL in FLAC (lossless), making it possible to assemble a configuration of High using tracks from those albums.

On that note, on High, U Make My Sun Shine is the shorter, regular version, not the one with the extended coda as on Chocolate Invasion. UMMSS was available as a pressed CD and more widely available than the other of the songs in question.

It is likely the versions on the original High conbfig were the ones released on NPGMC, not the ones from TCI/TS. It'd be easy to verify which this new configuration features beyond UMMSS which apparently is the original, edited cut. Sex Me Sex Me Not for example was different.

It's the one shown in Jon1967's post, simply entitled 'High'.

The copy I downloaded recently had the flacs labelled as being from The Chocolate Invasion and The Slaughterhouse as appropriate. But the timings vary with most of the tracks having tighter endings, i.e. no silences at the end. Gamillah and The Daisy Chain are longer, corresponding to the NPGMC releases. U Make My Sun Shine is the short version, which was released as a single. It's hard to say whether it's a mishmash of sources or some kind of new leak.

Usually when a legit leak happens whomever leaks it makes sure we get the info, i.e. that it comes from a genuine tape.

Here we have something

- popping up out of nowhere

- with a tracklist that doesn't match any documented tracklist

- with files labeled as belonging from either TS or TCI

I think we can agree on it being a fake, and I beg those people compiling such things to stop doing so: it only serves to confuse us, particularly young new or casual fans who are not necessarily trained as we are in discerning fakes fromù genuine things.

Similarly the recent Camille leak, while nice since following a genuine known tracklist and better than previous reconstitutions, could have been labeled by whomever did it as a fanmade reconsitution so we wouldn't have had to debate about its authenticity.
