The "strictly music business" achievements of Prince I'm trying to make a list of stand-out and/or revolutionaries achievements attained by The Man. [Edited 10/18/16 9:39am] The Colors R brighter, the Bond is much tighter

I wish you'd stop calling him Skipper.

While not revolutionary, the fact that he occupied the #1 (Kiss) and #2 (Manic Monday) slots in the Billboard chart in 1986 was certainly a stand-out achievement. Prince was the fifth songwriter to ever manage to do that. Even better, A Love Bizarre was #99 at the same time after spending 23 weeks on the chart.

*Not sure how to word it properly
But he has left a Unique and Pround logo representing his Brand entity

What am I going to say might not be a #1 anywhere, but Prince wrote for numerous other artists, irregardless of genre. He offered music to Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, Celine Dion, Chaka Khan, The Bangles, Patrice Rushen, Stevie Nicks, Madonna, and on and on and on. He was so prolific and although I am sure he had an ego, it didn't consume him ... He had such a generous and creative heart that I don't think he could hold it all for himself.

Darling Nikki directly led to Mary "Tipper" Gore establishing The Parents Music Resource Center, which went on to slap parental advisory stickers on records. 1 Prince - Darling Nikki (sex, masturbation) 2 Sheena Easton - Sugar Walls (sex) 3 Judas Priest - Eat Me Alive (sex) 4 Vanity - Strap on Robbie Baby (sex) 5 Mötley Crüe - Bastard (violence) 6 AC/DC - Let Me Put My Love Into You (sex) 7 Twisted Sister - We're Not Gonna Take It (violence) 8 Madonna - Dress You Up (sex) 9 W.A.S.P. - Animal (Fuck Like A Beast) (sex) 10 Def Leppard - High 'n Dry (drug and alcohol use) 11 Mercyful Fate - Into The Coven (occult) 12 Black Sabbath - Trashed (drug and alcohol use) 13 Mary Jane Girls - In My House (sex) 14 Venom - Possessed (occult) 15 Cyndi Lauper - She-Bop (sex, masturbation)

He was described as having a very strong ego. But he also had a huge heart. When you have both a high self-esteem and compassion you can do a lot in this world. What was the number one song he had while in battle with WB?

How about right from the start with his initial WB contract deal and producing himself? I think fleshed out this is a list that could stretch to 20 or so innovative music business aspects of his career, with many industry firsts. If you've got funk, you've got style.

Would that be the rude style? Cause that's what it is no matter how you explain it - over and over. Respect my azz. Brand new boogie without the hero.

He was the Man!! "With love, honor, and respect for every living thing in the universe, separation ceases, and we all become one being, singing one song." - Prince Roger Nelson (1958-2016)

He is the youngest ever (I believe it still stands) to self produce, compose and play all the instruments on a debut major label album. Pretty amazing when you think of the thousands of albums that have been released since 1978.

He arguably has:
The greatest rock n roll movie ever made in Purple Rain The greatest soundtrack ever made in Purple Rain The greatest concert film ever made in Sign O The Times. [Edited 10/14/16 14:28pm] Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

And that one of the tracks on Cyndi's album of that year was a Prince track... ('When You Were Mine') - so P was involved in some way in 4 of the 'implicated' albums, lol!

Interesting info. However, a straight out "strictly music business" rule breaker for OP. Sex (and especially dickx) are out - period. So sex & business are bedfellows, shocking Brand new boogie without the hero.

You might find something by shifting through this....
http://prn-archive.net/ a list of concerts and appearences
And then regarding Protogues ?
Is there anyone who came close to mentoring as many other musicians as he did.
How many people has he given music lessons to by taking them under his wings ?

Why do you continually refer to him as Skipper? Yes, I know all about the nickname but you weren't his pal back then. It smacks of disrespect. Or is it to show how "in-the-know" you are? It's snarky and really not appropriate for someone who claims to be a fan.

Please correct me if I'm wrong; my understanding is that he was the first black artist to cross over from R&B and get airtime on MTV. He attracted a very diverse fan group (age, race, gender, nationality, sexual orientation) for 35 years.
