What would REALLY help the healing process.... Would be for the estate to release something. Anything. -
Besides seeing Prince perform live, one of my biggest joys of being a Prince fan is the anticipation of new releases.
-
I am not saying the vault needs to open up yet, but even remastered/expanded editions of Prince's previously released albums, or a release of something like Prince and the Revolution: Live! would go a long way.
-
As his art is alive and available to listen to/view/experience, Prince is still here. "New Power slide...."

I was kind of thinking about this the other night. During the tribute concert, they used Prince vocals for "Purple Rain" and it was awesome but I couldn't help but think, had they shown video of Prince performing "Purple Rain" throughout the years, as only he could, that would have gone a long way in the healing process because it would have represented him having the chance to say, "Goodbye" to us, at least it would have to me. Because what hurts and makes me cry more than anything is knowing Prince left us and he didn't say, "Goodbye". [Edited 10/16/16 7:42am] I knew from the start that I loved you with all my heart.

The way to help our own healing is to become like he was...
ACTIVE in Standing up for injustice Helping people without wanting any return Spreading love and affection where we can Introducing young people to the MUSIC, but more importantly What it stands for... Honoring his LIFE by improving our own THinking Globally Acting Locally (Prince was a Social Entrpreneur ) Love one another Sprinkle purple Sparkle Dust over everyone you meet Dont HATE
Doing these things will give closure bring joy to ourselves and others and will give more purpose to each and every day....
My opinion..Im entitled to it...You asked...so there

With all respect for everyone's loss (which I share, too), and everyone's desire to see new material being released (which I share as well), creating a new thread everyday expressing that desire, or what one wishes to see released in particular, isn't gonna make it happen anytime sooner or influence the estate in any other way, including content. If they seek our opinion, they'll certainly let us know.. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

For me, I want them to take another six months at least to figure out what is in the vault. The people who would buy Prince music will buy it in six months or six years. Won't matter. But: someone has to be OCD about this and organize EVERYTHING he left behind so that his work product can be distributed over the years to come.

prplrin_ziggo Amsterdam May 2014 on youtube is the closest I've come to witnessing a good bye. Spoken slow jam Purple Rain - wants folks to come to and respect his house, Paisley Park. After the song ends he walks off the dark stage, returns with balloons and releases them. Kills me every time. That and holding the cane aloft at the end of the Piano & Microphone in Atlanta. Something very final about that gesture now. [Edited 10/16/16 12:04pm] Brand new boogie without the hero.

I agree..Releasing 1 song..Even charging a small fee for it..Towards costs to do so..like .99 to download it.. Until the end of time

I am sorry that you are at odds with posts that are speculative ideas for future releases, etc. That said, these kind of wishlist fan made lists have always been part of fandom. It has little to do with Prince being gone, and more to do with good old fashioned fan talk. I don't see any problem with it "New Power slide...."

Just the fact that we're having so many dupes. Maybe we should have a sticky: "what would you want the estate to release first and how?" to regroup all of those. Having too many dupes is always an issue on a board because it makes it messy, and also the fact that all those threads usually sound like the OP is genuinely hoping the estate will read it and take it into account is a little disturbing: sad and naive at the same time. But a sticky would do fine. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

closure about his death...the mysterious elements of it. Unfortunately, when there are inconsistant and illogical holes in a story, people create conspiracies that overshadow the work of the individual. take Marilyn Monroe for example. Her work is discussed, yes. But the whole "was she murdered by Kennedy" is discussed more frequently. Take JFK for example, we know he was shot by a looney but the other circumstances feed into conspiracies that overshadow his presidency. Its no wonder that the only film make about Kennedy is JFK and it is entirely about his assasination. I am not saying Prince's story is as important or even unexplainable as JFK's.
I wish they would just tie up the loose ends when it comes to his addiction, ability to hide it, its longevity, and the odd circumstances around his death. then, people could just move on and focus on his music. What's the worse that could happen? He is going to come off like a drug addict? He always does to many people.
Another thing that would help heal is respectful and reverent handling of his work and legacy (live concert footage released for affordable prices, vault music packaged and distributed in thoughtful and reverent ways. Also hide the freaking urn and rope off his valuables.

The only exception might be the deluxe Purple Rain, if indeed Prince did compile it, as he claimed he had done. Didn't he say something on Twitter about having submitted it to Warners? If that's already done then we might see that soon. I know the Billboard article mentioned it a couple of days ago, but Londell already dismissed that article as being incorrect. |

To me, this is no different than talking about wishlists for live concerts or hits packages when Prince was alive. "New Power slide...."

May not be a problem with your wishlist dilemma, but having no cares - dead or alive - is. Hence your atavar, I suppose. Prince's music would not exist without the forcing of emotion upon each and every one of us. Brand new boogie without the hero.

I have to say that more than once back then I felt the OP had high hopes of Prince reading their thread and taking their opinion in consideration. However I cannot say that this is the case for you specifically, of course, if you say it isn't. But I suspect for some others it often is/was. Love 4 one another ❤ I agree btw it would be nice to have something old made new again. Prince kept too much of his work to himself. I was sitting by people at the tribute who hadn't even seen some of the videos they showed snippets of between acts and that's just a shame. The opinion I got was everyone wanted more of THAT. More of HIM. More of his interviews, music videos, concert recordings, re-mastered albums, etc. And that would be more than enough for me right now too. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

That would be the absolute logical choice. P's last concert, the one he said he wanted to release just before he passed. Now is it the best per4mance of the tour? I don't know. But obvioulsly he felt that it was. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I want the last show at Atlanta released before Christmas. They should make a one off deal with somebody for this as I'm sure it would make a lot of money for the estate.

. Disagree. Especially with the "anything" part. . Prediction: far more people will be disatisfied with posthumous releases than will be satisfied. . And not for nit-picky reasons, either. . It will largely depend on how much post-production work the Powers That Be decide to apply to Vault material. . Prediciton: much (if not all) of what eventually emerges as posthumous releases will be deeply depressing to a majority of serious fans.

I thought everyone said they would have their closure if the family did a huge tribute! Now it's music to be released? so confusing. [Edited 10/17/16 8:35am]
