I'm pretty sure Prince was lonely. Probably never trusted anyone fully, understandably so. It comes with the job, i guess. [Edited 10/17/16 15:45pm]

It does feel a little like lance armstrong. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I do think Prince push himself too hard and needed to take a break. The music industy is hard. No one could use drugs for so long as people think he did, without red flags comming up. We have very little infro, to really talk about what was going on with Prince.

It could have been an accident, he could have been murdered, he may have committed suicide, it's possible he's still alive...
In this day and age you need to keep a very open mind. We're lied to night and day by politicians, the media.......

drugs are a short term solution for whatever the ailment is, If he was staying up, sleeping 3 hours a night for 40 years just off of drugs, it would have caught up with him sooner, just like it caught up to the rest of them. I don't know all the answers but I do think Prince's work habits were truly his own and came from a freakish disposition. Some people are wired so they can get more done, they say malcolm x only got about 4 hours sleep a night and usually he was fine, I knew a club owner, crazy as fuck but he was like that. I was convinced he was on coke or something but in the time I was around, I never really saw any drugs and don't think he used. Some people have a lesser degree of manic depression where they are highly functional and need less rest. and some people are just inspired by their life's work.

Because people are able to do superhuman stuff on drugs? Name me anyone who has a had a long and successfuf carreer with not gaps or issues that was high out of their ass on drugs for a 40 year period?

Thank you Prince would have been gone from this world many years ago if had been using dope for almost 40 years straight and he would have never made to 38 albums.

In the beginning, I knew this instinctively and so did others. I forget which older, extremely experience black singer said on TV on the night he died, "You really have to take care of yourself in this business." I always felt it was pretty much that simple, along with some other things we've learned since that have kind of clouded our perspective. Everyone has other factors to their lives, what meds they're taking, who they spent time with, etc etc but in our grief we've been looking for so much more to hold onto that we've each developed so many ideas about who Prince was. Yeah we've gotten to know and love him more but i think the bottom line is that for all his amazing talent and humanness, he was still human.

Vanity, - quite possibly the Love of his life.. Morris Day. - one of his oldest/Best friends..
various other band members, staff and crew... a reputation for needing very little to no sleep.. extremely private.. erratic decision making and mood swings.. Thin as a rail.. sometimes sickly and frail looking.. mid 90's ect.. Just my opinion..

Every one is different. When did Keith Richards kick his habit? If anyone should be dead, it should be him. Stevie Nicks ... we know her story. Either you kick it or it kicks you.

What does Vanity, Morris , other friends, and staff/crew have to do with Prince. Just because they did drugs dose not mean he did them. Being thin and making erratic decisions could be cause by something else like depression. People who work overnight probably have similar sleeping patterns as Prince maybe. I am not saying he never did drugs, I am just wondering how some people think he did drugs everyday since 1985 and didn't show no signs of drugs use and did't act a fool at his shows/public events. He was in music industry for 40 years and he has very little drugs talk for someone being in the industry that long. I believe at least he daded in drugs but to applied that he was some hard core user for years sound like madness to me. No one gets that lucky when doing drugs.

your'e right, everyone is different. keith richards is an exception but even he was looking horrible by his mid forties, a comedian had a joke "keith, how do you look so bad and still live?" and he also had some fucking wierd mannerisms from the drugs. I remember watching a buddy holly documentary and even though he was thoughtful and lucid, he moved his head and arms around all crazy, it was funny as hell. Generally, I don't care who you are, a thoroughbred or an average joe, drug use shows. In boxing, i've seen some of the most brilliant talents of all time reduced to mediocrity by drugs, it will manifest itself in one way or the other.

naw, no ones life is perfect but he had plenty of things go right for him. as i've said many times, i don't feel sorry for a guy like prince, I feel bad for the guy who's got to do mundane work for 30-40 years. Prince had a wonderful life and he was a very strong person, I know he had issues but I think he triumphed over most of them.

I so agree with you. I have been lurking for a while and reading the posts. There is a lot of feeling sorry for Prince happening. I have come to the same conclusion as you. This man had a fabulous life, wealth, talent, travel, international recognition and love, beautiful homes. Yes, just like every one of us, he had crappy things happen to him. All of us have crappy things happen to us. In total though, this was a life that lasted 57 years and he had experienced recognition and fame and adulation for the last 38 years (or so). He led the life he wanted to lead. That is what I call a good life and well lived.

We all must stay strong for Prince and stand for his legacy in every way possible. The entire planet is torn, we are sobbing, and are yearning for this to be a dream, a nightmare... We hurt for him and we're heartbroken of the circumstances. For us oldskoolers, we always knew he was a fragile being because we were aware he overcame a rough and lonely existence as a child in a frigid part of the Midwest US, and that is why we protected him spiritually. We've liked him since the beginning of his career. I am still not ready to let go... and I've never cried so much!
I will be crying for days more.. but I have to remember that Prince lived a fabulous and full life! He traveled the world, dined on the finest vegan foods, saw places we will never visit, met people from around the world of many cultures, had the chosen loves of his life, could buy anything in the world he wanted, owned mansions, and landspaces, had diamonds, pearls, and gold, as well as the finest couture. Prince fought for and maintained his artistic freedom, which meant everything to him.
And there was always positivity and order in Prince's life. We never heard drama or negative stories as he remained focused and straightforward in all his life's work. That STAGE was home to him and he loved us while we loved him back... And for all this... I am so eternally grateful!

I thought about this too.
Prince didn't have a family or wife. He was alone. He felt his music was becoming stagnant and his close friends said he seemed a little depressed.
Music was Prince's life. If that goes away, what else is there?
Didn't Bria separate from him in 2013? His drug problem seemed to triple around 2014. I can tell when I watched Arseniol and when he walked out on the Grammy awards in that orange outfit, that he looked like he was on something. His eyes were all glassy.
I hope he is in eternal bliss now in the afterworld. fan for life

Agreed and we should celebrate how he lived and not how he died. The constant questioning of "why was he alone in the elevator", "where were his friends/family", "was he a lonely person", "why didn't someone help him", etc. gets really old and solves nothing. I know his death came as a complete shock to all of us and people want answers, but the endless speculations aren't going to bring him back. Let's just be thankful of the years we had with him while he was still on earth and enjoy all the great music he has left behind.
