Forbes List of Highest Paid Dead Celebrities

Ghoulish topic, no doubt.

King of Pop leads the list with $825 million; mainly from the sale of Beatles catalogue; King of Rock Elvis earned $27 million.

Prince comes in at number 5 with $25 million.

(Sorry, don't know how to put in the link.)

Eh, not goulish. Life is business as much as death is, really. And with Prince only being gone just shy of six months, the $25M is small in comparison, but good for that time span. MJ's been gone over 7 years (!), so his net is higher. It'd be interesting to see someone level all this out in modern terms, and in ratio to the length gone to the amount earned.

To me, though, it just shows the weight of a legacy like Prince, or MJ, or Elvis, or The Beatles. The music doesn't end because the heart stops beating.

What are these figures? Net worth? Income from the past year? Did MJ estate really sell the Beatles catalog for over $800M? I'm skeptical about this entire list. Unless forbes has access to tax returns how would they know any of this?

Income from the last year; however they did include Prince concerts so it's not really apples-to-apples.

They're Forbes; they seem to get information.

It was not the beatles catalog that netted that much money it was half of all of sonys publishings and that included 100s of artist including people like the beatles, taylor swift, elvis etc. This is all the residual income that these people still generate in death for this particular year.
