The Family!

I noticed this recently:

.

https://www.amazon.com/Family-Prince-Paisley-Park-Vinyl/dp/B01FRCUZGO/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1476293324&sr=1-1&keywords=the+family

.

Can't tell if bootleg or if this is for real in print again. However, if it is in print again that is a good reason for celebration and I'm sure fans have been waiting a REALLY LONG TIME for it.

.

How did you all like The Family and it's later albums as fDeluxe?

The cd has been heavily bootleged in the past, never known of fake vinyl copies. It's not in print again, that's just two sellers selling.

Good to new condition vinyl copies have always been cheap.

This is true - although the fact that it's a listing for a new copy makes me curious still.

It could be unopened, so it's still "new". The vinyl isn't too awful hard to find. The CD is harder to find.

fDeluxe's records are just as great. It's The Family grown up. It's grown folks music. It's silky, velvety arrangements, adult lovin' and themes including love, lost weekends, dedication, and painful breakups. I wasn't a fan of Relit, a remix album, but anything else I'm onboard with.

They're in Australia right now (sans Susannah sad ) doing some gigs.

PS this belongs in Associated Artists forum.

!!! You're right! I didn't see the associated artists forum - thank you for that! I'm sure this will be locked soon then. Thanks to both of you for your responses! Also - TrivP - they are solid records. I didn't expect them to be as good as they were.

Soon to be locked! (+sorry!)

Nah, no need to lock it. The mods can easily move it over.

Yeah, fDeluxe are talented people. Jellybean isn't just a drummer, but a great guitarist. He produced and did the majority of the guitar work on Janet's "Black Cat". (PS There's a great remix with Vernon Reid soloing on it too.) He mostly plays guitar in fDeluxe when they perform live, but he did the drum work on the records. Gaslight is still a favorite record. AM Static is a very interesting and lovely set of covers. I hope they work on a 2nd album of original material in the next year or two.

They are such lovely people, and their work shines.

Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

I have heard the fDeluxe stuff and really liked it. The cover of their live album makes me want to see them live really bad (as well as the sounds obviously haha).

.

One nice thing I've noticed is that their first album is on youtube now so people can actually check it out. That is actually what caused me to buy the LP version of it and check their new stuff as well.

.

Crazy how they've continued the sound they had when they were Prince involved. It's so interesting that they just picked right up where they left off. I wish Prince wasn't so ridiculous about them and had let them use their name when they regrouped. I wonder what will happen now in terms of the name?

.

Under any name though - agreed - really great musicians and songwriters. They should be more well known.

One of my favorite bands, even if they had NOTHING to do with Prince!
