It does not matter what advances he received it has nothing to do with the 35million figure that some journalist made up.

I don't think Billboard just made this story up.

Nope, it's waaay too low.

Yes, they took a figure that is being bandied about and are reporting it as if contracts are in place .According to Londell that is not the case.
Why would the estate sell the entire catalogue for such a ridculous amount of money? The estate needs financial help to get the music distrubuted and marketed. I suspect that this figure is about some negotiation for this type of deal.
No journalist at Billboard is looking at any signed contracts so I can't take this seriously.

This is a bit frightening for all of us. Of course, the release of the music comes with a bit of joy and a lot of anxiety. Prince vaulted this music up for a reason. More than he could ever release in a life time anyway. But if he could not feel good about the mixes of this music, then who could? No one is ever going to make is sound like he would have. I would love for two versions of each mix to go out. One polished master of the original with no tampering other than refinement of quality, and then the mix from whomever is trying to make it comercial. What sad days. We are all so full of here

It seems low but music doesnt sell like it used to and this stuff will mostly only appeal to hardcore fans. So its about right to turn a profit.

Selling the entire Vault for 35 million is not maximing the music.

As much as fans see him as an international superstar,
- Now, on your left, a Coldplay album cover this ain't.

People, put your emotions aside a bit. Because eventually the estate is going to have to make some tough choices because bills have to be paid and they have to consider this as Prince's core fanbase are aging and Prince is no longer around to generate money as he made lot of his money off touring, and among other reasons.
I agree 35 million is very paltry for a superstar like Prince.
And Londell is suspect.

And remember we do not know how much of what is in the vault belongs to Prince's estate. There may be work product in there which belongs to WB or other entities he had signed contracts with. Such other ownership may significantly reduce the value of the estate. No one knows yet.

Then why don't they get their own jobs and EARN their money instead of mooching of Prince and his career? You people and your fucking high horses kill me. You want them to handle things properly aka how you think it should be handled AND you suggest they go get a 9-5 while doing so. Yea because if your multimillionaire brother left you with a big mess to clean up you would still be punching the clock

Yea because if your multimillionaire brother left you with a big mess to clean up you would still be punching the clock Yeah they all had their own lives before this all fell on their lap. And they're not that young with all the energy and free time in the world to become record executives with all the contacts and lawyers and capital. Tupac has his dear mom who obviously deeply cared about her own sons work and legacy and had the fire in her. She formed a holdings company for all his unreleased work. Prince because he was older and no wife or kids sadly had no one who is passionate enough to pass it on to. And who knows? After he was gone maybe he didn't care who was fighting over his stuff. If he did, he would have left a will. Since Prince himself, (and that is who we cared for) is not here to benefit financially from any of this, at this point I don't think it matters who makes money off it as long as they have the wherewithal to manage correctly, and it takes a lot of money and expertise to do that. So for the fan, it makes far more sense for it to go to a greedy corporation with deep pockets. A greedy corporation with deep pockets takes good care of themselves and their investments. That's what greedy corporations are known for. That means his work will be taken care of. A bunch of old people with no expertise or desire to become responsible for all the work it entails, and for what would be a really HUGE endeavor for anyone to manage, is not the best place for it to be.

Again, Billboard didn't just pull this story out of thin air. There has to be some kind of feelers going out about the vault.
Londell can deny, deny, deny all he wants.
Where there is smoke, there is fire.
I have no doubt, that the vault is being shopped around.
