I understand there could be issues with First Avenue and suggestions it copies Bowie's Blackstar artwork from the less informed masses and will never happen but it just feels right to me.

This would be a nice peice of artwork and another hits package will surface when the legal dust settles

This would be respectful, reverential, acknowledging of his humble origins and era where he rose to fame and the colour scheme would be in line with the reason for the release. An auditorial obituary. The more I think about it, the more I want it (if a hits release is really necessary) which I don't think it is. A career reflective compilation would be fine. A set that went up to 2015 and included seminal fan fave deep cuts alongside the hits. For example Sometimes it snows in April wasn't a hit and never included on a hits set but it is a huge presence in his repertoire and belongs on posthumous compilation. If they handle it like that, bring it on.

I'll be shocked if Sometimes doesn't make the next compilation. An awful lot of people discovered that song this year

i can see why they would release another greatest hits package,

but for us hardcore fans i hope they include a few big hits that

were performed by associated artists, but now prince's versions
of them, such as Nothing Compares 2 U, Love Thy Will B Done,
Manic Monday or such. just to keep things interesting for us as
well, plus the general public will recognise those titles too, so win/win.

Brilliant idea. We already got nothing compares on the hits in 93 but yes, love thy will be done for sure.

well, sort of. but i never liked that version. it's live isn't it? i can't recall it's probably my
least listened to prince track on an official release ever, even way after jughead.

but his 'demo' for the family version, now that would be a treasure for sure

With all respect for everyone's loss (which I share, too), and everyone's desire to see new material being released (which I share as well), creating a new thread everyday expressing that desire, or what one wishes to see released in particular, isn't gonna make it happen anytime sooner or influence the estate in any other way, including content. If they seek our opinion, they'll certainly let us know..

I agree with you. No way did I post this with any naive hope that it would make it so. The idea just hit me and I felt the need to share it with people who would get it. And for me, that's here.
