The piece of art on the vault door?

Ok the peice of art that was on the door to the vault seen in latest pictures. A face peering through a rock. Seen it laying on the floor in the room before the vault during a old documentary. Seen it on the cover of sign of the times album cover. Recently seen it on the actual vault door.
What is it and did it have special meaning to Prince?

I apologize for my writing skills ,hope someone understands the question because this site is the only place i know where to possibly find the answer

It's from Sign O The Times. It's a face. Look at the speaker behind Prince's head on the album, and it's there. I forget off hand, but it was probably in the movie somewhere, too. If memory serves, that car grill plate was in the NPG Music Club lounge area at Paisley Park.

Very interesting question!!! I've also wondered about the significance of the piece. Knowing Prince (as a fam), I doubt that it was random, especially since it is a recurring theme.

I don't have the answer but the image makes me think about Jesus coming through the round stone door when he rose from the grave in the tomb
I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

It always bothered me that the guitar angle looks wrong. Is it superimposed? It doesn't lie right in physics terms.

Well, we know Prince was ahead of his time, and 505 is a computer term for 'Not Supported'. So I'm going with the plate meaning "Crappy kirky Jay Not Supported'.

Well, Prince left clues. See those shiny gold discs on top of the drum kit? Obviously Prince loved cymbals....so much he later changed his name to a Love Cymbal. He obviously knew when he eventually did change his name that WB wouldn't like it, so it is represented by a car crash.

falloff

Back on topic...where can I see this pic of the vault door? I've seen the door in the Ryde Dyvine video and in a Much Music doc filmed in PP. But I don't recall any artwork on it?

P.S. I think its cool that the SOTT car front end is hanging in the NPGMC area in PP. cool

On the original vinyl cover, you can see that it was superimposed by looking at the edges of the guitar. I stared at that cover for hours when it was released and that stood out to me too. I had forgotten the cover has the amps used on the Parade tour, which were on display at Paisley Park also in the UTCM room.

I always wondered if the liquor box was leftover from a party Prince had had or if somebody simply picked up a leftover box from a liquor store?

Thanks for the pics! I'm sure that is the closest I will ever be to the vault, lol.

Now I'm curious about the room decor...anyone know what he used that room for (other than as a place to hang awards) ?

It's just a lobby of sorts, a foyer, or a pre-vault room. I assume later a lot of those awards went upstairs to the main lobby to be hung, or put in glass cases.

Moreso that it's a jewel from a headband ornament, like what you'd see in Egyptian or other cultures.
