Is Black Muse eligible for a Grammy nomination Man I love this song. Does anyone know if it's eligible for a Grammy? In fact I'd love to see Hit n Run Phase 2 nominated if eligible. Great album. Paisley Park is in your heart

That album has pretty much been ignored by the industry...unjustly I might add. Also it might be considered a 2015 release (in which case, it just means it was underrated last year instead of this year).
All the industry cares about when it comes to Prince is the 1980's. And people like the Revolution, Sheila E, and Questlove don't help in enlightening people on some of the highlights of his later work when all they want to talk about is the 80's as well.. Why anyone would want to listen to every rejected piece of work from the 1980's (Clorene Bacon Skin bores the fvck out of me) and ignore later gems like Revelation and Black Muse boggles my mind. I think its a narrative that people want to hold on...you know the ones that says that once prince lost his dirty mind (which is also not true), he lost his musical mojo entirely. I admit that in some ways lyrically Prince lost some edge but sometimes suggestive lyrics are harder to write than bluntly sexual ones. Anyway, I digress.

According to the Grammys FAQ:
For the 59th Annual GRAMMY Awards, albums must be released between Oct. 1, 2015 and Sept. 30, 2016.
HNR Phase 2 was released in December 2015 so it should be eligible. If any recent Prince album should get a Grammy nomination it's this one. I love that Vibe oral feature on the album. http://www.vibe.com/featu...dio-album/ [Edited 10/7/16 19:57pm] Paisley Park is in your heart

I doubt it will be included in the grammy's. Too much about his death has focused on the 80's, his drug addiction, his will--so therefore the narrative and the hype just aren't there to get that album recognition. I imagine a lot of people who vote for grammy's have not even heard the album. Unlike David Bowie's last album, it doesn't really deal with his death. Actually if AOA had come out this year, Prince might have a better shot at a grammy due to the prophetic nature of the "Way Back HOme" and "Breakdown" songs. I would love to be proven wrong about HNR II though.

Michael Nelson, a member of the Hornheads, who worked on HNR Phase 2 was working with Prince on some amazing stuff before he passed. I hope some of this gets released. http://www.rollingstone.c...-20160429# Paisley Park is in your heart

I predict this album will be well represented at the Grammys. They are not oblivious to the marketing potential. Also, it's a worthy album...prolly better than most of the other nominated dreck.

Prince's album could be a left field winner, much like Herbie Hancock's Joni tribute album a few years ago. That album sold very little prior to winning Album of the Year.

I hope it's nominated, it certainly deserves it.

I hope the song and album are nominated too. I think it is more likley to get an R&B nomination then a general nomination but would great if he could get both. This would enable the album to get a lot of exposure that it never got before. I remember after he died I had to ask here on the org if it was worth getting, as there wasa barely a whisper about it in the mainstream and music press. This is in great contrast to David Bowie's Black Star, which sold way better than any of his CDs in decades. While HnR2 certainly isn't one of his very best (which BLack star could arguably be for Bowie), it is actually a more accessible album and does show a lot of growth as Prince as an arranger (he was very active and a "genuis" in the arrangement collaboration according to the reports).

I doubt it very much but it's a really beautiful song that could do with the kind of wider reconition that a Grammy nomination could bring even if I don't care for the pagentry of the awards themselves. Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

Totally think Black Muse or the Hit N Run album should be nominated for a Grammy. It would be well deserved. [Edited 10/8/16 19:22pm]

My favorite song at the time of his death. I haven't listened to it in quite a while. It's extremely uplifting, but makes me sad at the same time.
The final verse is like a heartfelt goodbye.
