I think it would have been a better idea to have the urn in a small anteroom or grotto, with a clear explanation to everyone about the purpose of that room.

Not keen to see it myself but approval is neither ours to give nor withhold. If I lost a family member and a stranger to them and me told me how I should or shouldn't treat my loved one's remains I'd invite them to jog on. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

I don't have a problem with them being there, it seems the natural and right place for them to be. But I do have a big problem with them being stuck in a glass case like just some exhibit (in a mini purple coffin...really?) and even more than that, with people not being able to stand with them in some kind of privacy, and have the space to respond to that in whatever way they want to. If a tour guide told me I couldn't look sad because Prince would want people to be joyful I think I might lamp them and then just plain breakdown. Not like I love my guitar....

My impression from the reports is that people were taken aback by the presentation and verbal explanation from the guide. They'll get better. The guides must be absolutely overwhelmed. They're doing something completely new on several levels at once, for an emotional crowd who know the subject matter ten times better than they do, while the world watches. It just takes time. But yes, a private space would be perfect. And the MUSIC continues...forever...

I doubt it matters if we approve or not but I'm ok with it. I'd much rather him be there than 6 feet under or sitting on some family members mantle. Paisley Park is in your heart

The ONLY way I would approve would be if someone showed me definitive proof that this was Prince's wish. Then, I would be okay with it. Otherwise, there are more...tasteful arrangements that could be done to house Prince's remains in a more dignified manner. Just my opinion, of course. Elvis remains were actually in a mausoleum (sp?) for a few months and some crazy fans actually tried to break in it and take his remains. Yes can you imagine trying to steal someone's body?! His father decided that for Elvis to rest in peace he would need to be where there was security hence bringing him to Graceland in the back lawn. He was actually placed there before Graceland was opened to the public for security alone. He was moved there in October of 77 I believe and they opened Graceland to the public in 1982. But of course seeing the grave is a big part of the tour. So I guess it worked out for them.
So it's a good thing for him to be at Paisley where security will be because I'm telling there are some messed up people in the world who will do anything. But honestly where else would Prince be? I think he belongs there. Now as far as where they placed him in Paisley Park that is entirely up to the family. "Don't worry about what I'm doing. Worry about why you are worried about what I am doing."

With no will, we don't know what Prince's wishes were. . His family / the estate decided the best place for his remains were at the place that he called home/work/fun/partytown. I don't see how one could disagree. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. More info at https://www.facebook.com/TMATSPodcast/

A lovely romantic indoor grotto with beautifully designed plant arrangements and architecture. That's the key. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

I know that Prince's passing still has most of us in a state of shock, so almost nothing about this situation is to our liking. I get that. Having said that, I don't know why it is such a big deal about his remains being on display at Paisley Park. Can any of you think of anyplace he loved more??? Moreover, remains are not typically sequestered...and people visit gravesites all the time. I would still like for them to have a memorial garden for P on the grounds of Paisley Park. At one time, someone on the Org (or perhaps on another Prince page) offered to put up the funds to start such a garden. The person suggested that fams be allowed to plant a purple tulip or some other flower in P's memory, so the garden would always be expanding. I really like that idea.

I remember someone suggested a tulip garden. I think a memorial garden on the property with seasonal flowers blooming and a tastefully done statue in Prince's honor would be terrific. "Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything." --Plato

YES. Although, I was taken back when I learned.
The music press loved to compare Prince to Mozart. In life, they may have had much in common. But in death, Prince seems to have received proper tribute.
http://www.mozart.com/en/...th-mozart/ Travel the world and you will find many historical figures laid to rest in places where tourists can pay their respects. The tomb of Frederick the Great is in Potsdam Germany, on the grounds of a palace he built outside of Berlin. You can freely walk the palace grounds and stand within two feet of his grave and the graves of his 11 beloved dogs, rather than his wife (he was gay). People pay their respects to the "potato king" by leaving potatoes on his grave. Berlin's cathedral has many of the Kings of Prussia on display.
http://www.unofficialroya...f-prussia/ I guess my point is that Paisley Park was Prince's palace. Some might feel putting his remains on display in a 'museum' is beyond the pale. I would agree Paisley Park is now more mausoleum than museum. But in reality, there is an ancient world tradition of putting somebody to rest and on display, with personal touches that may seem 'unfitting' to some. But who are we to judge? Prince isn't suffering lack of respect. Most people are cremated and that's that. Prince is now at rest and accessible to the world in a setting that reflects his tremendous talent and embraces his unconventional ways.

I think it was very thoughtful of his family to consider his fans and do this for us. I am fine with it. It may have been better to let people know it will be there so no one is shocked. Welcome to "the org", Mumio…they can have you, but I'll have your love in the end

Paisley Park is exactly where he should be. Maybe as some suggested in a special room. But yes he belongs..at home. Until the end of time

When I first read of this I was in total shock - and even now reading the comments I am sobbing again - it is so awful we lost him so soon so I am not sure how I feel but I do agree that if he belongs anywhere it should be at Paisley Park. I think it would have been nice to have a pretty garden as some suggested and maybe even scattered the ashes there in a pretty garden - but I suppose in ten years time, if for some reason Paisley had to be sold (perish the thought) then he is still there but would that be a good or bad thing? Its a tough call and one I am glad I did not have to make. The only thing I am finding it hard to come to terms with as a JW they dont "make idols" so not sure how the public disppay of his ashes fits in there? Maybe someone else can chime in there? But if he did not make a will I guess they had to put him somehwhere and PP is where he loved to be and now at least when one visits they can be mentally prepared for this. The only thing I do wonder about is the placement of them - but then he did like being front and centre Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

A bit shocking to find out the way we did however can think of no other place on earth where his remains should be. He did find his way back home The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.
Remember there is only one destination and that place is U All of it. Everything. Is U.

Someone on Facebook who took the VIP tour stated it felt very offhand and rushed (and quite a surprise) to be told by the guide that his remains were in that PP replica..and then quickly the group had to move on to the next 'display'. - While I DO feel Paisley Park is absolutely the right place for his remains to be, and where I think he'd want them to be, I do NOT feel the way they are currently being displayed is right (I know others' disagree but it feels wrong to me to have this quick stop to gawk at his ashes and then move on to look at some article of clothing or something...they might 'only' be ashes, but they are still 'him' - those ashes were a living person who accomplisehd so much, was loved by so many, lived an amazing life and had many, MANY facets to him and emotions and experiences...I guess to me it just feels weird to reduce the ashes to a thing to 'look at' before you head off to the gift shop and buy a keychain or a mug. :-/ Again, just stating how I personally feel. - The suggestion made on FB was to perhaps place his remains in a smaller room, with candles and incense and other atmosphere that Prince loved, and make that an optional stop where people can stop for a bit and say their goodbyes and just reflect for awhile about this incredibe, and incredibly talented and LOVED man. I liked that idea.
