That's one of the few songs from Prince that never got leaked. I'm sure there is a full Prince version, that he did for Dez, as a demo somewhere in the vault.

I thought I read that song had no Prince involvement?

There is a version floating around from the film that loops the chorus and verse to make a longer song.

It's not done perfectly, but it's the best we got folks!

WB have it. They were planning on releasing it
as a single in '84, but it never happened, and
the track never leaked out.

From what I heard, WB were quite keen to
release it, but wanted to hold off until the
album was ready. Either the album took to long
(or never got off the ground in the first place).
Either way, they missed the boat with the
release date and decided it was too late to
bother.

You never know, maybe it'll surface next year
if Prince & WB came to an arrangement about
some kind of 20 year Purple Rain anniversary
release (well...we can dream)

It was easy to get it during the notorious Napster era; I miss it.
Is there any place of refuge one can flee from this insanity

I wonder what the 20th Anniversary Edition of Purple Rain would consist of...

Disc One.

1. Let's Go Crazy (full version)
2. Take Me With U
3. The Beautiful Ones (longer version)
4. Computer Blue (full version)
5. Darling Nikki (longer version)
6. When Doves Cry
7. I Would Die 4 U (slightly longer version)
8. Baby I'm a Star
9. Purple Rain (full 13 minute version)

Disc Two

1. Erotic City (long version)
2. 17 Days
3. Wednesday
4. Sex Shooter
5. Jungle Love
6. The Bird
7. Modernaire
8. God
9. Another Lonely Christmas (12 inch version)
10. I Would Die 4 U (12 inch version)
11. Father Song
12. Dance Electric
13. Moonbeam Levels (doesn't fit, but just had to throw it in there!)

i mean, it's like... there HAS to be an anniversary reissue of PR.
