Come on people...Wherever U go, Whatever U do is a masterpiece! This song never gets a mention...
Its the best linn in 15 years. It proves the linn is not dead. I dare you to get a kick ass stereo and turn this up big. Its sounds amazing. Some people may say Rave sucks, but this is one of THE best songs between 95 and 03! If P does end up re-visiting the back catalogue, lets hope Forever in my life gets this treatment! Amen! .

one of the few keepers on that album, even if it is a conglomeration of several better songs
(forever in my life, love thy will be done, don't talk 2 strangers (lyrically))

I liked the old school linn sound and vibe of the track.
But it veers dangerously too close to Richard Marx for me to really love it totally.

It's far from being the worst on the Rave album, but coupled with a sub-"Right Here Waiting" chorus and cheesy lyrics ("remember when you were a kid you had toys") I think it's far from a Prince classic. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

I'll agree with you on the linn -- it does sound cool. I had high hopes when I heard the first few seconds of this song. But Prince lives close enough to Wisconsin to drive over there for his cheese without putting it on record like this song. i like it - it should have been a single. a bit of an I Wish U Heaven vibe, musically. not his most classic lyric, but still - good track. One of many good tracks from RAVE.

This is probabbly one of my favorite tracks on Rave. As a whole I'm not crazy about the album, but this track felt like a throwback to better times.

Not to mention the modulation up a whole tone towards the end... It almost always means the writer didn't know what to do next with the song...it's a cop-out technique employed in almost every successful syrupy ballad from "Heal the World" to any almost any Celine Dion hit you care to mention.

However, it's not all that bad, I like it somewhat and the guitar tone is a redeeming feature...but I wouldn't play it at a party or anything, put it that way. .

GREAT song! One of the few highlights from the 'Rave' album.

It sounds like "Every Breath You Take", I can't get past
that. Seems like a cheesy knock-off from the Police tune and it's PDiddy remake. Like "Here I can do this in my sleep guys". And that's what it sounds like too. It might have been nice if it didn't end as abruptly as it does. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Its a very good but very simple song
two thumbs up over here Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Its one of the better ones on rave but it is lightweight and the lyrics definitely need a re-write. I like the vibe of the song, but its definitely lacking.
When i first heard it i also thought of every breath you take, but its not even in the same league as that.

it sonds so much like the Sting song "i'll be watching you"
or whatever it is. the same vibe. cliche/simplelyrics. its prince wanting 2 get on commercial radio. & it sucks. ***************************************************************************************

The beat and guitar are fantastic. Should have used the deep voice on it though.

I don't know about masterpiece, but its a good song. Definitely a highlight of Rave...which didn't have many.

Masterpiece is a little strong, but the song is pretty cool. Suffers from the feeling that the Backstreet Boys could have easily recorded this song, but it's still good stuff.

I don't know about some of the slow jams on the Rave album...Too many for P or Clive to make it a commercial success...Too many towards the end to satisfy me... -------------------------------------------------

Its a beautiful melancholy-like song. I agree with some who posted its derivative of Every Breath You Take but he did good at being derivative on this one imo. "Climb in my fur."

I Agree.with a Pinch of the Cats Behind the BackStreet Boys Sound as well in there.that. Seems like a cheesy knock-off from the Police tune and it's PDiddy remake. Like "Here I can do this in my sleep guys". And that's what it sounds like too. It might have been nice if it didn't end as abruptly as it does. mistermaxxx
