Physical re releases of ALL official albums

BEFORE any previously unreleased music, I would be happier to see re releases of ALL official albums in physical form, maybe specially packaged, for example. Especially the online stuff, one nite alone etc.
Anyone else agree?

They should release single disc, Deluxe Editions and Super Deluxe Editions for each album. Then each of us can decide which version to spend $$ on. I will get the latter. All super deluxe, all the way!!!!!

Deluxe edition? Sure! But just making more pressings seems wasteful to me.

Of course it will happen, but it won't be overnight or all in one big dump of product.

.

I wouldn't expect a neat chronological release it will be a mish-mash of best of's, compilations, re-releases, etc, etc.

Deluxe editions are really going to be their best bet going forward. Of course they'll have to produce single-disc remasters for those who simply want updated sound. But most of the single-disc type buyers already made their purchases in April & May.

.

From here on out, it's going to be the collectors making the most significant purchases. Limited Edition Super Deluxe box sets are going to generate the biggest bang for their bucks for the estate.

See this is what makes me uncertain.

.

I've finished my collection with the stuff on TIdal ala Chocolate Invasion, Rave In2, soon Exodus, etc.

.

If they remaster those things and put them in stores as physical albums... oh god I'm gonna lose a lot of money.

.

Especially on some of those 80s CDs that don't have the best sound quality they should..... At least the Tidal stuff is like, hi-def styles, and I'm not likely to get much better than that I bet...

.

Edit: ALso - a lot of the 1980s stuff still doesn't sound great as flac so I'm hoping they would add a new mix job to the 1980s stuff. Purple Rain sounds so fuzzy and thin. It'd be a whole new experience if they did that.

I'm sick of downloads. I like to collect Prince music, and downloads are 'cheap' and nasty, you can get them from anyway without paying for them, if you just want to hear the music. I want (especially) ALL the npgmc releases. One nite alone is one of my personal favourites and it's criminal to think that it's not been released to the general public

I dont feel like I own the album unless its on CD or vinyl. Continuing to purchase Prince's albums is cathartic for me personally.

A 6 LP set of an album that sank like the Titanic? Sorry to burst your bubble, but... What do they say in America again... Hell freezes over?

Seriously... Bob Dylan released The Complete Album Collection on CD a few years ago, but this was easy because he had been with the same record company all the time. In Prince's case, it's much more complicated, because he switched record companies and labels so often. Although a box set "Prince: The WB Years 1978-1996" would be possible.

I really hope each album gets its own deluxe edition release. If they want to do a 'WB Years' box set later on in the future, fine. But each album really needs its own limited edition. Then they need to promote them too!! People need to be aware about the releases and get excited. And none of this f**ing mystery release date crap like the WB vinyls.

Dunno man... If we stay with Dylan for a little while, his albums have been remastered in the original form and there have been plenty of alternate versions and outtakes on The Bootleg Series. But those mostly focused on the 1960s. Dylan didn't sell shit in the 1980s, so there's not a lot of alternate versions etc(officially) from that era. If we translate this to Prince... Chaos and Disorder didn't sell shit, so how big are the chances of Chaos And Disorder Deluxe becoming a success?

Also, hard drives sometimes fail after 10 years, so downloads won't stand the test of time. I'm hoping to listen to Prince's music 70 years from now, so I need to purchase physical copies or risk losing files in the future.

Yes, for example a super duper edition of SOTT and Lovesexy would be great!

Im old skool, so I like to have physical items, look at the artwork, booklet etc. It would be great to see physical re-releases of his entire catalogue. I have all of his 80's albums in vinyl and CD format so I've bought them twice already, except Purple Rain, Lovesexy and SOT which I only have on CD. I can't make up my mind whether to get the vinyl re-issues for these or wait for deluxe edition box sets to be eventually released. hmmm I can see them making us spend our hard earned on this multiple times rolleyes
