Grace Jones' "Cry Now, Laugh Later"

Is it known if P had any involvement with this track? It's from an album released in 1982 so the time frames match but I've got nothing else to go on. Sorry if this is a rehash topic.

I don't think so. I really wish they would have done something together back then, though!

awhile back (several years ago),someone did a thread insisting that Prince's song "Lady Cab Driver" borrows elements from Grace's song "Pull Up To The Bumper" smile I don't hear any similarities, though

No.

And why would he? It's pretty random just to make an association like that.

The song has an obvious Minneapolis sound to it. I just threw on a random Grace Jones vinyl and when this track came on I immediately thought he could be associated with him. Then I saw that the song was from 1982. That's why I posed the question.

So... What about all of the other songs that sound like Prince from this era?

Awesome track, but never thought of any Prince involvement. I am just thinking that had Grace and Prince collaborated on anything, they would have clashed. I think Grace would have scared the shit out of him like Sinead did. Prince did not really gel with mannish gay icons like Grace and preferred more dolly bird type singers.

.

The lyrics are very unPrince, the lyrics are morose talking about deported and being stuck in this hellhole etc. Grace never mentioned Prince in her autobiography either.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

I always thought "Te Amo Corazon" was really derivative of "Victor Wants To Be A Jazz Musician." FRIGHTENINGLY so.
