I don't think the family owes anyone anything, including a funeral, memorial service, tombstone, etc. That being said, I as a fan would appreciate it if the autopsy report was released. Many of us here think something else was going on, beyond the ultimately fatal Fentanyl dose. So much is happening so quickly - I feel TPTB are sweeping away the end of Prince's existence in the hope that any questions people (fans, reporters, etc.) might have will gradually go away ... The whole "1958 - Infinity" concept. JMO

+1

+// and i can also understand why they would just want to run for cover or let it wash over them. sudden deaths are so crazy making and painful. disorienting. all the BS with the estate etc.... i can understand why tyka would just want to wash her hands and go grieve her brother in private.

I would add - they aren't capable of giving others closure. NOBODY is capable of giving another person closure. That hole you may feel inside is your own thing to take action upon. Otherwise you are demanding something of others' time and money. Like a child having a fit, demanding others care and attention. Somewhat immature, really.

I'm not asking for a happy ending, there isn't one. Just a decent bloody good send off for prince. A nice public funeral for people to mourn and pay respects. That was it. Too late now it's gone. All u want is a tour of Paisley Park, for your picture album.Well enjoy. Your going to get it.I'm done with this place.A load of vultures.

Yup. The family and Prince associates and the industry (who all I believed knew what happen but refuse to say it) may had or tried to con the gullible public into thinking he was just another 'OD rock star.'

But they can't fool the likes of me who believed something else went on with Prince beyond the Fentanyl dose. Nice try. I said it before the estate isn't getting a dime from me until they be upfront about what happen to Prince and stop treating fans like they are children who need to protect from the ugly truth.

We know P was working on opening PP and he invited fans there quite frequently over the years. Do we know he would have wanted a public memorial? Or is that a case where it doesn't matter what he would/wouldn't have wanted? confused

This thread is about the Today show previewing PP. Go to the death threads if you want to argue the "ultimate funeral" for the millionth time.

It just seems too soon to open PP to the public. But then again, with all the financial obligations to P's estate, I guess they had to do it sooner, rather than later.

.

I hope to visit PP one day; but right now is just too soon for me. sad

I don't remember where I read it, but it said all media events were cancelled tomorrow. They are having a friends and family night Wednesday night.

NBC advertised the PP segment tonight, and it is still on the Today show website, so it looks like a go.

They are letting ticket holders come for the first week so I am sure the interview is still on.

Part of show just happened with 2 of P's sisters there...Tyka to be interviewed in the next hour. P's archivist agreed with Al Roker that P was a pack rat.....he saved everything. Al and sisters just interviewed say P's spirit is definitely there.

Was this in the first hour or the show? I'm in the central time zone so we get the Today Show on an hour delay.

Just saw tyka's interview. Short and respectful. She did say a few interesting things about her mourning process and his and her closeness. But mostly, it was just nice and respectful.

They are trying to make money off his legacy because there is a big tax bill coming up. And of course dwelling on the odd way in which he died is going to overshadow the museum. That's life. But I saw both interviews (the first one is on today.com)..Both are respectful and appropriately somber.

Sorry for teh delayed response. Am on EST time. Am teleworking so couldn't get back to post re the time of interviews. Poignant about the doves going quiet after P passed. I missed the first part of her interview...wonder if it was pre-recorded since nothing said about the city council mess. I hope it will still open for future visits. They (CC) appear in unflattering light to me since this was no surprise to the CC that this was happening. Would love to know what's really going on....they didnt mind taking P's money or help when he was alive...nuf said. Will zip it on that subject.

Did anyone see the news about the investigation yesterday....it was overshadowed by the PP delay. I didnt capture the links and can't find them. Focus on illegal RX's by a Doc and/or "dark" market . Charges depending on source if ever discovered....which isn't really new. Enuf about that too.
