I believe there are glimpses of the door in the Love 4 One Another special, as well as the Gett Off videos (mostly the remixes). It'd make for an interesting tattoo. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking. |

Can someone start a discussion about Prince's love symbol because some shocking details have emerged. The symbol's meaning may have something to do with the one and only Vanity. The V shape at the bottom is for Vanity. Someone Please post a picture of Prince and Mayte's wedding China which shows the love symbol with the letter M in the middle. I always thought something looked stranged about the wedding symbol back in 1996 until it was brought to my attention that if you look closely, you will see the letter V, under the M and I think M does not stand for Mayte but it stands for Music or Matthews. It's also being reported that Vanity and Prince were having relations in 1994. I personally think, they have been together all this time. Vanity stated in a interview that they were off and on. It's also may be coming out that love letters were found by Vanity's relatives from Prince to Vanity after she died. The love letters were way after 1983. Please post pictures of his different love symbols from the different eras because the symbol has evolved. A lot of you should stop putting down Vanity or ignoring her significance in Prince's life. There would be no Purple Rain if he never met Vanity or even Dirty Mind and 1999. If you are a long time Prince fan like me then you know what the Prince rules are and one of them is once he dismisses you from his life, he cuts the ties with you forever. He did not do this with Vanity. He had many women but it was this one that he could not let go.

An excerpt from the article: One day Prince’s head producer approached Monson and Lizz Luce to say Prince needed a symbol. She didn’t say why—Monson and Luce assumed it would decorate an album cover—but said he wanted the icon to fuse the astrologically inspired Mars-male and Venus-female symbols, and he wanted it soon. “We just took off right away,” Monson says. The two designers toiled away until morning, sketching ideas until Prince came in and quickly selected the design now inextricably linked with his identity. After that, Monson and Luce barely altered the drawing. “The one you see now was almost untouched. We did very little adjustment to that particular mark at all,” Monson says. Look closely at the icon, because there’s a lot happening. Most obviously, it merges ancient symbols for man and woman, creating a new, sexual, gender fluid one. At the time, Prince hoped to launch the careers of two of his dancers: Tara Leigh Patrick, who went on to become Carmen Electra, and Mayte, who went on to become his wife. As a result of working with them, “he really wanted to see this feminine quality to [the symbol], and have this mix of male and female,” Monson says. “He saw those elements being important, and being integrated.” Look again and you’ll notice the Love Symbol is a hair off balance. The scroll isn’t perfectly circular, and the right side of the cross bar is gently misshapen. Prince chose this imbalance deliberately. “I get grief for it all the time from people who are like, ‘Can’t you just clean up that logo,’ ” Monson says. “But it was supposed to be that way; he didn’t want it to be perfect.” Like a human body, it’s asymmetrical, imperfect. Lastly, the symbol also evokes a cross. It’s impossible to know the depths of Prince’s intentions, but the Love Symbol swiftly harmonizes ideas often in conflict—man vs. woman, sex vs. religion.

Sure some of that has to be bollocks. He was using the basic symbol in 82/83. It first appeared on the sleeve of 1999. What I'm wondering is where he got the initial inspiration from or whether he borrowed it from somewhere?
