WHAT? Whosaidthat? I have a copy of 1999 without DMSR. I have always wondered what was up with that, even posted here about and got no response. DMSR is listed on the cover thought!

Original 1999 LP:
side 1: 1999 Little Red Corvette Delirious side 2: Let's Pretend We're Married D.M.S.R. side 3: Automatic Something In The Water (Does Not Compute) Free side 4: Lady Cab Driver All The Critics Love U In New York International Lover Some countries originally only got a single LP version of 1999 initially which had the following tracklisting: side 1: 1999 Little Red Corvette Delirious Free side 2: Let's Pretend We're Married Something In The Water (Does Not Compute) Lady Cab Driver When 1999 was first issued on CD they omitted D.M.S.R. because at that time it wasn't possible to make a single CD long enough to include all the tracks, but the running order wasn't affected.

Sounds like someone put the wrong CD in the wrong case. Check to see if the catalogue number on the CD matches the one on the case. I bet it doesn't. Original DMSR-less copies of 1999 didn't list it on the case, and the writing on the back was in red on a purple background. The re-issued version with DMSR had the writing in yellow on a purple background.

I still have the original 1999 cd! "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.
RIAA 'nuff said. | |

The re-issued version with DMSR had the writing in yellow on a purple background. My recollection: The original CD release of 1999 omitted DMSR for only one reason: CD technology at the time did not allow for including the entire album on one disc (it's over 70 minutes in its entirety). The max that the time was something like 65 or 68 minutes of music on a disc. So, to get the album out as a one-disc set, something had to be removed. DMSR got the boot because that song was available on a movie soundtrack on CD elsewhere (the movie title escapes me now). I have both versions...original without DMSR and re-release with DMSR. Both have red type on a purple background as the back of the CD case. The notable difference was the screenprinting on the CD itself. The original release was the standard "Warner Brothers" format (see your Purple Rain disc). The re-release is nothing special, all purple type on a CD, in the blocky "1999" typeface.
