The Egg as a Mausoleum Maybe the solution to the fence problem is to make The Egg building into a mausoleum so that fans have a place to pay their respects and leave flowers, etc., in a controlled and safe setting. There is talk that is what he wanted to be done with the building, but I'm not sure there is anything definitive on what his final plans were for the building. With that said, I highly doubt he wanted it to become a hotel. The Egg could really become the most important part of Paisley Park if they do it right and it could be a very beautiful thing. It would break my heart if it became a gift shop or a hotel. I hope that the heirs and all that were close to him push for this. [Edited 9/29/16 7:10am] [Edited 9/29/16 7:10am]

It was going to be a studio. The blue prints were sold online not long after his passing.

A mausoleum would be a little morbid, but I would like an area in it for the end of the tour to show the legacy. Screens with peer comments, president, maybe a fan booth, plus the hidden charity work. It's an egg building. Would be nice reflect on what he hatched. But this is America, so it'll probably be a gift shop. .

A boutique hotel is being proposed for the Egg. I always thought it would be a great location for the musuem (I do not know the layout). Brief tours could go inside the studio, but the outfits and other items could be displayed in the Egg to allow for minimal traffic and interupptions in the studio and more foot traffic to see other Princely items in the Egg.

I'm just saying that there needs to be a grave site. That grave site needs to be at Paisley and the Egg seems to be a logical place to put it. The Paisley Park building is about life and that life will go one through the museum. The Egg was never a part of Paisley Park and is apart from the building and can be the place where people pay their respects.

No, there doesn't. Paisley needs to live and breathe, and to house his remains there would bring about an atmosphere that I am SURE Prince would not want. I am convinced he would not want to have his remains on display for all to see.

I'm not saying that his remains should be there for all to see. But a place where fans can come and pay their respect. Most people have some type of gravesite. I'm not proposing something crazy here. He is one of the most important people in our generation and the museum is great, but there should also be a site where people can pay their respects. That's all that I am saying. For fans since his death made that place the fence and it was beautiful. It would be great if there was a more official place.

I understand. I think the word mausoleum is what is throwing me off. A mausoleum is a place that houses the remains of the dead. I think you're looking for a reflective place? A memorial? I just think that Paisley Park, in and of itself, serves that function. The whole facility is a place where people can pay their respects, gather, and reflect on his legacy.

I am probably using the wrong word because I dont even think his ashes should be there. Just a solemn place to reflect, remember, honor and respect our Prince.

Elvis was originally buried at Graceland beside his mother...a meditation garden...as we know paisley park is run by the same organization that runs graceland...unfortunately Elvis grave was "invaded" and the family moved his remains to a private location. Prince remains are in a private location with his family at this time...I do believe that fans will continue to leave momentous....just as we do for love ones that pass away. It's different for each person I believe we should honor Prince by honoring ourselves...the egg is perfect for a gift shop or hotel but ugh. Ugh.....hopefully his family knows what his intentions were for paisley park and the fans respect his wishes... Loveandkindness

That's what I always heard too way back in 2000-2001 at the Celebrations from other fans. That it would be his place of worship and rest.

I thought his ashes should have been scattered in the air from Minneapolis to Chanhassen. A man from Minnesota said he created a special repository for Prince's cremains that the public has not seen. I don't think the Egg would be appropriate.

So The Egg is an actual place? Heh, who knew? Always thought it was a clever metaphor for the female organ or something, in the song "Mellow"... (apologies for side tracking this thread!)

I would definitely make a trip to pay my respects . Maybe we should start a petition. I asked Prince what he was planning to do. He told me , I'm going to look for the ladder. I asked him what that meant. All he said was, sometimes it snows in April. - book D.M.S.R.

You can't see his remains! They would be in an urn inside a very secure cabinet. Paisley was his home. His resting place should be there. I asked Prince what he was planning to do. JFC. The last thing that Prince would want is a shrine, and that is exactly what you are describing. Unless you're talking about a very secure cabinet in a room that is not open to the public. Somehow, I doubt that is what you are describing, and that you would rather have the urn on display for all to see. Why the hell isn't Paisley enough for people? Why this morbid need to see his urn? I don't get it.

I don't like the idea of a hotel but a mausoleum NO!! Use it as a music school or some other kind of educational facility. Come now, isn't life a little better with a pair of good shoes? - Prince 1985
