What time of year will Prince's death really affect you?

I can't help and feel how eerie it will be to see Paisley Park in the winter with snow on the ground and and to know, Prince is not there and never will be again... such an emptiness inside I feel...

Is there a time of year that anyone may have the same feeling (besides saying i miss him everyday)

I miss him very much, daily in fact. But I think I will miss him when the anniversary comes, and on his birthday.

I've resolved to wear the symbol on my FB profile picture for 7 months after the event. So, it'll probably be really awkward to take it off in November. However, I've resolved that I'll just move the symbol to the corner of my next photo.

So, then and the December to April stretch because he was really active around that time this year and I'll be thinking about it.

For me, a time like now, with the Charlotte shooting and riots.

.

I know he would have done or said something that would help or encourage. I listened to "Baltimore" recently and it's sad knowing there won't be a "Charlotte".

.

What a gigantic loss.... sad

Interesting question and I have thought about that myself. Actually I suspect April will always remind me of his passing and the saddness. It is funny I always used to be happy around April, those first few days of spring were always a relief and exciting. Spring has always been my favorite season....but I can't imagine now thinking of April the same way. It also is bittersweet that he died on the 21st as my birthday is October 21st....when April 21st rolled around I always remember mentally marking it like. in six months I'll be....whatever age...now on my birthday this year it will also be the 6th month anniversary of Prince's death. sad

I try my best not to dwell on having to deal with his absence during certain times, but I tend to "perk up" during this time of year. The autumn/fall going into the winter (September-December) is when I start looking forward to hearing about new projects/events from not only Prince, but MJ as well. I would watch the movies/short films & videos ("Thriller" & "Ghosts" especially during Halloween) more often and play certain albums more than others. I guess it goes back to my younger years when, more often than not, both artists album launches fell during the fall/winter months and you could feel a sort of "warmth" from all the hoopla and anticipation that goes along with it. It'll never be the same, unfortunately.

Same here about April, because I was born in April. And my birthdate is the same day his plane made that emergency landing so I will always remember that. sad

No time, in particular - because Prince would have hated people counting days or weeks or months or years.

If I find myself doing that (even now), I haul myself up short and say, "Stop it. Make your own world better and your own dreams come true."

We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I miss him everyday, too, but especially missed him on my birthday this year, which was earlier this month as I always play his music on my birthday 2 celebrate it and used 2 check the Org every year if he was touring in September so I can watch him in concert around my birthday; incidentally, last saw him in concert four years ago in September in Chicago, which was the best birthday present for me-- saw him in concert two nights that week! Even got to tap his shoulder as he rode his bike to the stage at United Center for an encore as I cheered him on. cool sad

For me it's not a time of year in particular. It's more like dates I have in my head: concert dates I went to see him, his birthday, the day he passed away.
I'm watching the Dortmund recordings as we speak and I was just thinking: he was 30 years old at the time and he didn't know that within 28 years he would no longer be alive. That he was over halfway in 1988. It's at times when I'm watching concert tapes when it becomes difficult.
