You already posted this. No again. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Will you stop it?!? Leave Tyka and the Family alone with this stuff!

Your kidding me. Some of you people think your entitled your way too fast!!! Come now, isn't life a little better with a pair of good shoes? - Prince 1985

I dont agree with you. If the family is offended by this, it was not my intention. It's also not my intention to go back and forth arguing about my petition. Negative comments or commentary on my thread is not necessary. If you dont support the petition just say so. This petition is a response to the fact that Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera and John Mayer will be doing Prince covers and that will be the way 2016 will end. I am a Prince Music Lover and see this as just abominable. I just got Jennifer Hudson out of my head. Thank you for sharing, but the "family" is already making business moves regarding Prince's legacy and I just wanted to offer an "a cool idea" for the lovers of Prince's music. (Notice how I did not say Fans because Prince did not like that word). Call me crazy but what is social media for if not for things such as this. Cadence Strong

But what's wrong with Christina Aguilera or Stevie Wonder or John Mayer? They are both talented people who love and want to honor Prince and they have a right to do that, especially Stevie being that he is one of the greatest musicians of all time. Prince isn't coming back and we have to accept that people are gonna sing his songs, and these particular people are not doing it for the money they are doing it out of love for Prince. PS. Jennifer Hudson did a great job even if she messed up a word, Prince admitted that he messed up all the time, also she can't help that she has a powerful voice, even Prince loved her voice and he would have loved that performance... Just saying.

I don't understand your reasoning. Petitions are often seen as a protest or a way to demand a request. Your statement about responding to the fact that some artists will cover Prince's songs by the end of the year does not make sense . Prince's work has already been covered and will continue to be covered by artists forever more. No petition is ever gonna stop that. As for the music in the vault the estate needs time to thoroughly assess and catalogue his work before they make careful considerations on if and how it should be marketed and as widely documented, decisions about his legacy is currently tied up in the courts. Just saying. The artist that you named, aside from Stevie Wonder, have nothing to do with Prince. There are enough people in the Prince camp to pull off a meaningful tribute.(The Time, The Family, Sheila E., Andy Allo, Andre Cymone, THE REVOLUTION, The NPG Bands, etc) We don't need to see John Mayer or Christina A. yelling at the top of her lungs) Also, Stevie Wonder has sounded horrible during each tribute and Jennifer Hudson wasn't all that great either. These people don't have the spirit of Prince in them like Sheila and NPG had during their performance on the BET Awards. [Edited 9/25/16 9:33am]

This is why these things are becoming less effective for real social injustice issues. Every petty grievence needs a petition. [Edited 9/25/16 9:34am]

By the same token, if one doesn't wish to have 2016 end with pop stars covering Prince songs, one needn't watch. Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. . Oop, Doozer got you there. You kind of walked into that one. . Most Change.org petitions are so annoying. Entitled is a good word. Your reasoning that it's "abominable" to let 2016 end with pop stars doing covers makes no sense. Are you in the habit of demanding how years end? They have to end on the right note for you?

[Edited 9/25/16 9:33am] But a tribute is about honoring people and you don't have the right to tell people that they can't honor him just because you don't like their style, this is not a Prince concert this is his friends and fans coming together and honoring him. And you must have forgotten Prince loved women with powerful voices like Christina ex. Rosie Gaines and Patti Labelle and Boni Boyer. Also, Prince is music, his spirit is in every funk, soul, pop and rock song. He build his career on not being limited to one style of music. He paved the way for people like John Mayer so it is almost his duty to tribute him because he and almost every artist today owes Prince. So saying they have nothing to do with Prince is nonsense because music has everything to do with Prince no matter who it comes from. PS. A lot of people in associated with Prince are booked

When you say "everything", do you really mean everything? I ask, because I just so happened to be listening to one of my favorite songs {Cold} of all time as I read your post. Your comment compels me to ask you : Please help me to understand what does this particular song have to do with Prince? Thanks in advance for your reply. “Sometimes People Don't Want To Hear The Truth Because They Don't Want Their Illusions Destroyed” — Friedrich Nietzsche

Cut your crap. Don't try to get into semantics, you know exactly what was meant. Music was Prince's life and he'd appreciate any serious musical tribute to him.
Fact of the matter is, bugging his family like this is rude and disrespectful. You are entitled to nothing of his nor do you understand the business/financial nature of what you're asking. If you were up to date on your Prince news in regards to Vault music you wouldn't be doing something so foolish as this anyway.
