Conga line in UTCM movie

This question is kinda random but is Prince relevant.

What do you think of the conga line at Mary's 21st birthday party? I love it!

lots of fun

Image result for Tricky dancing at Mary Sharons Birthday part in Under the Cherry Moon

this is one of those scenes that show that Christopher should have had a band, and been hired to perform at Mary Sharons party. Which would make sense for him to be there. No way a random person would just be able to show up at a rich girls birthday part.

High Fashion w/the Family should have been the next band, while Christopher is flirting and talking 2 Mary. That scene was actually good.

wait, Mia Bocca was the all Night party? I'm trying to run the movie through my head...

1. Under the Cherry Moon Outro - Piano Instrumental (Intro Voice over)
2. An Honest Man - Piano Instrumental (Titles)
3. Christopher Tracy’s Parade (Nice)
4. Incidental Strings (Mirror, Mirror, 17 fold)
5. Incidental Sax & Strings (That Bela Lugosi look)
6. Incidental Sax & Strings (Bath phone call)
7. Do U Lie? (Mary’s party)
8. Planet Rock (Party Jam)
9. Incidental Drums (Christopher & Mary’s eyes meet)
10. Mia Bocca: Intro (Mary reappears)
11. New Position (Party Conga)
12. Happy Birthday (Jonathan calls)
13. Incidental Strings (Mary & Christopher)

Mia Bocca should have been at the all Day part of the Birthday party with Jill Jones & the Revolution

The conga line was to "New Position". "Mia Bocca" was the background music (drums and strings) during the tarot cards scene, and where Mary introduces him to her mother with Mrs. Wellington standing there, which all proceeded the conga line.

Correct. Mia Bocca: Intro was the instrumental playing in the background when Prince and Mary meet. When the conga line starts, "New Position" starts.

This is so interesting, I have watched the movie several times now, and I didn't recognize some of the instrumental songs that were playing, so thanks for this. biggrin

What's interesting is that "New Position" is played twice. Mary plays it on the drums when she comes out naked. Then the band plays it again for the conga line. Whether intentional or not, one could surmise that Mary's talents in life are not yet fully awakened (although Christopher mentions she knows who she is, she just doesn't know what she wants - which sort of contradicts itself), but that the things she does go after and accomplishes influences others. Even if that is just a random jam session on a drum. And it's not because she is from an affluent family.

Then again, we know the movie is as deep as a kiddie pool. LOL

To be fair, it seemed as though the security was pretty lax...
