Recently rad an article that Andre's mom asked Prince to give Andre a song. Was this during the same period you discussed in your post? If so, what was the name of that song? I believe it went on to become a hit.

At one point after Purple Rain all five albums were of his past albums were on the charts.

The writer explained that in the beginning. It's a "What if?" article. It obviously didn't really happen.

I've read this before - and it's interesting. Honestly it was totally possible that something like this could have happened. . With that said - the first LP is one of only 5 or so that I don't own. . How do you all rate it compared to his self titled? Do you like it? Thoughts on the LP in general.

I'm not giving you the opinion of what was then a teenaged girl looking at and listening to a cute teenaged boy... I remember liking it, but it's entirely possible that it was being young and P being cute. Lol

How long has it been since you listened to it? Also - in a fan website there are much more strange discussions happening than this - feel free even to share how you felt then. . I remember my first P album was the Batman soundtrack - and I didn't really know anything about him yet. My dad thought he was buying the Danny Elfman orchestration and was surprised it was Prince. When we got home to listen to the CD he realized his mistake. Needless to say - I got the CD because he was never going to listen to that thing. . It was so quicky and strange - but so dark and minimal - and somehow luxurious. The hard edges were so hard and warped that the soft sections were heavenly in comparison. I remember being somewhat embarassed by Scandalous - thinking "isn't this a woman singing?" and then realizing how much bravery he had to express himself in that way. When I revisited the album over a decade later I would put the headphones on at night and be taken to a whole new world again. I'm so happy for my dad's mistake - and it's funny because that mirrors a lot of things I learned to love that he firmly rejected throughout my life. It's still one of my favorites and he still hates it haha
