Thanks for linking to it. I noticed that George Clinton's message is shown as having been removed. I hope they'll get it back up.

To be honest, I kind of wish I hadn't looked. It made the feeling of those first few days come rushing back, not that it's really ever quite left me.

Most of the comments were pretty kind and even a bit brutally honest. Eric Leeds however seems like a cold fish. His tribute, if you want to call it that, was more about himself and other musicans around Prince in the 1980's. Reading this facebook post, you would think that he really didn't know Prince well anymore or he really didn't like him because he wrote about Prince as if he was a troublesome stranger who happened to unite Leeds and his musican friends after throwing musical work their way in the 1980's . I read another interview with Leeds that seemed a little kinder about P...even saying he had a sense of humor. Here, Leeds comes off like he is throwing subtle shade at Prince on the day of his death. Plus, dying young is never cool or more appropriate or more well-suited. Plus, what the hell did he mean when he said Prince "could not grow old. I know.". Who cares if someone does not grow old gracefully--no one should die young alone in freaking elevator. I don't know maybe the Leeds family just lacks sentimentality but geez, the dude could have recounted one funny story and said RIP and left it at that.

The revolution reunions feel weird to me because of comments like Leed's. At times, it feels almost like they were happy to see their 'leader' out of the way so they could come out from under his shadow while exploiting his legacy. There seems to be a snobbiness about former 'revolution' associated members. I really do hope they loved him in their own way (and at times it does seem that way). The Leeds family members however do come off the coldest about Prince.

Exactly. I mean so what if P was a pain in the arse in the 1980's. He gave him employment, was generous with his music etc. At least he acknowledged that. But the subtle shade was a bit much...yes, he was difficult but Prince evolved and changed throughout the years. I seriously think that P and Leeds were virtually strangers at this point in their lives. So perhaps, maybe some of the former revolution/80's bandmembers should admit that it was 30 years ago when they knew Prince. Wendy, LIsa, Susannah, Andre, Morris perhaps, Bobby Z and Sheila still knew him because of the intimacy of their relationships, their history and the on-going associations, but how often did Eric Leeds or even Alan for that matter hang out with P over the last 30 years.
