Without doubt a great era. . Only recently I've been listening to this without the non-Prince tracks. By doing this it still stands up as a great album. . I've always loved the Thieves remixes. The exclusive Medley Cool remixes just found on the 12inch vinyl are also.... cool. .

Seriously - top 5 P album for me.
I got back into him last December - seriously haha - and this was the first album I picked up. Listened once and thought "Pretty solid work, Prince and friends". A few more listens and I realized wow this is maybe his best 90s album to me. Ah man it's hard to say actually as someone who loves all his work really - but GB is so kickass.
Like. Really kickass.
Haven't seen the film yet but I will in time.

You have to listen closely to the lyrics that are sung, and watch closely to the story line between Prince and especially Morris and Aurora! There is an obvious spiritual struggle/war being waged in that movie! It is one of his best movies I think just for the tale that is is being told in that.

Yep, yep!! Whenever I felt down, I'd pop GB into my VCR Welcome home class. We've come a long way. - RIP Prince

I have loved the album from day 1! So many great songs including some all-time classics (Joy, Elephants, Still Would, Thieves). Not the biggest fan of the song itself, and I don't remember the last time I went out of my way to listen to Round and Round...but I really like the rest of the album. The movie...I remember seeing that opening weekend... somewhat of a let down initially (I had really high hopes for it). The movie itself works better for me when I view as a really long music video...but now, of course, it is wonderful to see Prince no matter what (and especially back then... full of life, passion, energy...he always brought it!)

Listened to this more than any of his 90s albums because it has several great songs (I was thrilled that he performed Elephants and Flowers in Atlanta). [Edited 9/21/16 14:14pm]

I spend a lot of time reading and writing but I love looking up from whatever I'm doing to seeing Prince on my TV screen, and one of my favorite go to video is Graffiti Bridge.

It was the first Prince movie I saw as a kid, years before I considered myself a "fan". It was on HBO/Cinemax's rotation pretty heavy not long after release. I developed a little crush on Ingrid Chavez during that time, and had some nice, vivid dreams of her (especially during the "Joy In Repetition" sequence...but let's digress lol...I gotta say that I enjoyed it then and found the charm and fun in it above all else, even not fully understanding the plot at the time. I still like it. I love the album as well.

I watched the movie just before actually! I always notice new things I never noticed in past viewings. Such as just this time during the Tick Tick Bang scene, I never noticed Morris's expression when The Kid comes over to him and some other guy puts his hand on Kids forehead!! It's so funny

Side 1 is fabulous barring Release It (which is OK). Its playable from start to finish. Side 2 (record 2) is a mashup of good and bad which dragged the record down. The album has some great 80s material and I even really enjoy Love Machine more now than I did back then. Not to say the songs on Side 2 are bad, but could have been put on the respective artists own albums. Shake wouldnt have sounded out of place on Pandemonium. Melody Cool is nice I would have kept that. Tick Tick Bang...meh. Grafitti Bridge...is okay. Latest Fashion was better and less produced on Corporate World...it just sounds like a hodgepodge on the album. Side 2 just felt crammed together with features. The album though is very important still as there are some outstanding tracks like Cant Stop, NPG, Elephants & Flowers, We Can Funk, Round and Round and Joy and Still Would Stand All Time to be heard. Album plays and love for vinyl records.

I seem to recall that Prince himself said he wanted 'GB' to be reminiscent of musical films like 'Wizard of Oz'. The sets were obviously quite deliberately designed to recreate that style, and the morality tale narrative and 'mannered' acting makes it fit the genre perfectly. [Edited 9/21/16 15:32pm]

I must really love this movie, I have 4 copies-2 I bought for a dollar. In all seriousness I do enjoy the movie and the album. I like the movie because I could relate to his battle with himself and his spiritual side and the battle to be popular and cool like Morris.
For the album all I have to saw is Joy in Repetion or how about The Question of You than add some Love Machine, Release It, and Round and Round. Plus it has an anthem-New Power Generation.
I just have 1 ?-why wasn't Robin's song on the soundtrack? Beautiful, Loved and Blessed
Thank You Prince | |

I think it was a strong album and a cute collection of music videos strung together with sparse dialog. An ego piece for sure.
P's hair is gorgeous and his dance moves are impeccable.
I enjoy it cuz it's P, but insert any other guy and I'd laugh rght as I turned it off.
A cheezy good time on a lonely Saturday night.

The album is good, the movie is good for viewing the songs as music videos. It could have been so much better. The story line was strong enough, but the sets looked amateurish and the acting was awkward. I understand wanting to film it at his beloved PP but it didn't work. And the whole Ingrid Chavez character was odd and she just didn't seem real believable or talented. Not good casting imo. It's a hurtful place, the world, in and of itself. We don't need to add to it. We all need one another. ~ PRN

This is the only Prince movie that I want to watch over (and over). I enjoy the pensiveness of it, and when I finally saw it, it made me fall in love with a few songs that I had previously just liked. So I was explaining to my husband (not a Prince fan, to put it politely because I still love him) that I thought it worked better if you viewed it less as a movie, and more as a series of music videos strung together with a plotline. From a traditional movie standpoint, I could understand the poor reviews. He said, "Hmm... A movie where the main focus is a certain act loosely held together by a plot... I think there's a name for that, isn't there?"
