DVD: Prince - Up Close & Personal (2016) Just purchased this DVD entitled: 'Prince - Up Close And Personal. Celebrating Over 40 Years Of Excellence'. I'm watching it as I'm typing this post and it starts off with the interview with Larry King (30 min+). Next is an interview on Lopez Tonight and an interview from 1986 (France - earlier issued many times on vinyl picture single). There's no live footage. It's nice to have but not an item to run 2 the wrecka stow 4. The price of the DVD made me decide to hold on to it (12,50). It seems to be from France since the DVD says 'fin' at the end and the credits say 2016. So a new item. 'Liberate My Mind'

I had considered buying it but wasn't sure if all the interviews were already out there. Which other interviews are on it? Aren't there 8 or so?

All interview dvd's are utter shite and a waste of your money. Give it a snazzy title and the suckers will keep buying though.

It's an audience interview in a hotel lobby. It's on YT as well. Lasts for about 5 to 10 minutes. 'Liberate My Mind'

i bought one that was ok, the only thing that bothered me was prince himself, a couple hours of that cryptic shit does start to wear thin, no matter how much you love the man.

The Larry King interview is a great interview with a full grown and funny Prince, but the 1986 France interview is with Prince at an age where he liked to present himself as an enigma: thinking about an answer to a question for God knows how long and when you hear the answer you think 'was it really necessary to think that long about an answer like that'? Back in the day I remember that I loved that kind of cr.....eh, interviews but it's actually very annoying behavior. Damn, I'm gonna return that DVD! 'Liberate My Mind'

ya, don't get me wrong though, it was still good to see it, just after a couple hours of it, it's starts wearing on you. Like you I loved it when i was a kid and i know that was his schtick but it does get tiresome. anil dash in that recent interview said he'd hacked into a primitive prince site in the 90's and found a letter of prince's written in regular english and he said how it conveyed what he was feeling about his record company perfectly. he said that prince released the revised letter with all the glyphs and shit and it didn't have half the potency. what i do love about his interviews though, is you can here his humility come out even with all of the act and that's as close as we get to the real prince i think, outside of some of his music.

Well I didn't know it was a 1986 interview...I thought it was the other one on video around 2010.
