I've always liked the song. 'Specially the coda at the end with the violin-like synths. Madonna totally ripped this off in Dear Jesse

I like the song too! My favorite part comes near the end, when Sheena and Prince are just sorta ad-libbing before the instrumetal segment that closes the song...

"The Arms of Orion, that's where I wanna be,that's where I wanna be,that's where I wanna be...eee...eee...since you been gone baby (since you've been gone I've been drowning)...drowning...drowning without your love..."

Is it schmaltzy? Yes.Is it too sweet and pop-ish? Yes.But somehow,it all works.

Madonna's 'Like A Prayer' album (which features "Dear Jessie") was released in March 1989.Prince's 'Batman' album was released in June 1989.

doubt that.

Dear Jessie was a song written/recorded early in the planning of the LAP album (which would be somewhere mid/1988).

The Arms Of Orion recorded Feb 1989.

Oh, everyone knows they're the same person!

Actually, Prince ripped-off Thriller for Shockadelica, Beat it for Let's go crazy and Billie Jean for When Doves Cry!

And, before you all freak out - I'm only being half-serious!
