Taken from the UKs Popbitch newsletter.

"The Prince Revival starts here? Time Warner are secretly re-editing and adding songs deleted from Purple Rain, in a secret Arizona studio.

The new songs are believed to be Electric Intercourse, Extra Lovable, These Things, Take Me God! and The Dance Electric.

Prince seems to have cooled down from his dispute with label Warners, and is even talking of recording an album of 80s-style new material ready for the cinema release of Purple Rain:The Truth next summer."

Oh and before you ask, the vast majority of stories on Popbitch are true. If they are unsure of the validity, the celebrities in question are not named.

ha ha ha ha

Popbitch has some of the best works of fiction I've read in years ! Many of the stuff the post is based on rumours, they only run blind items when they worry about getting sued.

I can hardly see prince, as litigious as he is, filing a lawsuit over a new film rumour.

I used to edit Popbitch. Most of the stories are spot on.

Why secretly re-editing?
Why Arizona?
Why a cinema release?
Why retitle it "Purple Rain: The Truth"? (do they make it more JW friendly?, edit the swearing?, Does Prince do a commentry track?)

Hmmm...Even if it is true I don't think these tracks would go with the rest. Do you think these are good choices? It would be good to have them anyway, I just don't think the concept would be right.

Anxiety

This is incredibly silly.

An anniversary DVD release next year? Maybe. A 20th Anniversary collector's CD w/ bonus tracks? Would be nice, but seems unlikely.

"Purple Rain: The Truth"? Please. I think even a theatrical re-release of PR is a little outlandish - even if P were still as "hot" as he was back in the day, the movie hasn't aged well at all...I don't think it's even fashionably kitschy yet...give it another ten years and it'll be the next generation's Superfly.
