What did Prince smell like?

I have read that he used a lavender oil, then a Calvin Klein scent. Does anyone know what fragrance he used the past few years?

On the night I was close enough to get a whiff it was definitely something lavender. It seemed more like it was just his natural scent than any perfume or oil, very trippy.

I outran a kid to get to the stage during his Indianapolis stop on the Musicology tour. He reached down and grabbed my hand and I about died! Most magical night of my life! Glad I could help solve this mystery wink

I remember an article I read about Prince many many years ago. I can't remember who they were talking to but they stated that Prince 'always smelt divine'. It always stuck in my head as I love a man who smells lovely biggrin

Thank u 4 a funky time

I didn't really like the smell of 3121. I read about the lavender and I also dreamed that if I meet him, I would be in lavender heaven.

Beautiful, Loved and Blessed

Thank You Prince

The more I remember it, the more I think it could have been this. It smells very similar to what I have experienced and the brand is known for their subtle and natural scents. How close was I? Very close: he had his arm around me and his hand on my waist, his other hand in my right hand... And no, I don't work for l'Occitane lol.

^Further in the perfumery notes for it mentions cinnamon!!! I definetely remember the cinnamon scent, along with the peppery notes. I think this could very possibly be the one...

"Perfumery Notes

Top Note: Black pepper, Lavender

Middle Note: Nutmeg, Cinnamon

Base Note: Tonka Bean"

Madonna smells Prince
In Bill Zehme's cover story on Madonna, she discusses Catholicism, her split from Sean Penn, her endorsement deal with Pepsi (her "Like a Prayer" video would end up scotching that), and a certain genius from Minneapolis."Ever since I've known Prince, I've attached a smell to him, which is lavender," Madonna said. "He reeks of it."

I remember being pushed up against him when he came into 'The Pod' in Dublin, in March, 1995. The first thing I noticed was his smell. Better, cleaner and more distinct than anyone else in the room - & very distinctly - of lavender.

I've been asking what he smelled like for a long time and fans and other celebrities always mention lavender. I've also heard a few mention l'Occitane. Some have mentioned noting cinnamon and citrus, lilac, and woodsy, so whatever he smelled consistently of something similar and delicious.

I just saw l'Occitane also has a soap and aftershave balm. If that was P's scent of choice, maybe he didn't use the cologne but use the soap and that's why the scent wasn't overpowering.

I keep hearing that whatever he was wearing was subtle.

Plus, I've also heard more than a few people mention that there were candles and incense burning at PP so they weren't sure which delicious scent was coming from where.

A journalist who visited PP on several occasions said the scents coming from the candles and incense were lavender and monoi. Delicious indeed ! biggrin

When I saw him perform at Club Black after his Rock n Roll Hall of Fame induction, I was at times no more than 4 feet away from him. Face to face. He smelled heavenly...like the incense that used to be available through his NPG music club. I'd call it otherworldly...like nothing I have smelled before. I did notice the lavender...but there were other notes. You just wanted to inhale the air around him.

The incense maker, Stasia, is still around (and a lovely woman)...I order from her a couple of times a year. If you really want to imagine what he smelled like (at least on THAT night), order the Garden of Eden incense. Her company is Salish Winds. I have a feeling she knew him although we've never talked about it....
