The Fence at Paisley Park

I was there last week and the fence has become as much of a memorial to Prince as the building itself. So much emotion and love is there on that fence. I was glad that I didn't get to go inside Paisley Park and could just remember Prince with other fans and their momentos on the fence. The images of the fence with all of the balloons and tributes shortly after his passing will forever be a bittersweet memory for me. I'm hopeful that the operators of the museum allow fans to continue to share their tributes of Prince along that fence. For many of us that were lucky enough to go to Paisley Park since April 21, that fence was the closest thing to a funeral that we had for our Prince.

Yeah the fence is amazing. But such a bummer that we've had so much rain in August and September which has ruined some of the memorials. sad

True, but the thing about it is that there are always fans that will continue to provide memorials. Obviously, the memorials will have to be removed if they are becoming excessive or worn due to weather, but that tradition should remain until the end of time. It is just so touching to see that he had such an impact on people from all over the world of all ages, races, etc. Truly a beautiful thing. Out of all of the nonsense happening after his death, I'm 100% certain the fence is the one thing that he is smiling about.

I was there last week also - I wasn't sure if I could visit without losing it but i felt like I had to go! It's hard to describe but I had this feeling of calmness after looking at all of the mementos, seeing the other people there paying their respects and leaving a note & item on the fence. What an amazing variety of people there showing love for Prince!!! I'm happy that we had the chance to go and leave a little something there - it's ok if it doesn't survive the elements, we had the moment and took pictures so we'll always have that in our hearts.

Exactly, visiting was so good for my heart. It gave me more wonderful memories of him, albeit bittersweet ones.

Sadly, many fans won't experience this solemn and important part of Paisley Park. This is a real shame. If only they knew how much his spirit lives on that fence.

I agree. I hope they change their mind and continue to allow fans to leave momentos, or make alternative arrangements.

How can we petition them? Fans need to have some say with this sacred place.

tinted laminating, zip ties, and more.

Awww. Lovely thoughts and efforts all.

The learning curve on the weather resistant memorial offerings is special, but also telling, as we continue wading through this grief together. sad

Maybe they can keep a designated area where people can leave stuff?

I agree that they need to keep some fence for fans to be able to visit without having to go inside to pay their respects. That's the only right thing to do. I was there just a few weeks ago and it be a shame to not have it anymore....

The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

Be realistic, they can't stay there forever. It would begin to look tatty.

That fence rocks, even my tribute sits there, thanks to a very nice lady who offered to do them for us and post them up.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

What a compassionate and kind response. What a loving heart you have, StopIt, and it shines out via your posts. I know I appreciated your kind words to me about the post I made where I shared good memories connected to Prince, and where I shared some info that I hoped other fans might find interesting as they continue to learn about, and look for ways to feel close to, this amazing person who has left us. Here again are your kind words to me, another fan who feels grief and is trying to find ways to heal - thank you for showing me such caring and compassion. smile heart
