I'm so of two minds about getting a Prince tattoo! I keep vascilating between getting a pink, purple, and blue symbol and not, mostly because I have a thing about not putting names on my person, and it was a name, however briefly. On the other hand, it's an awesome androgyny symbol (so much for being some mysterious thing - it's literally a fancy androgyny symbol. ), and since I'm quite bisexual, it would work nicely for the purpose.

Also, your tattoo is awesome!

Just go for it! It checks all the boxes I would say! I had the symbol done on my shoulder in 1993 and never regretted it!

Wybrand that is off the chain. It is amazing. How long did it take? I don't have any tattoos been thinking about gettigng a small Prince something. It will not be that amazing, I don't think I could sit long.

Well before I turn in then.... I already had the symbol done on my shoulder in 1993, but a few days after prince's death I decided I needed to get a more visible Remembrance Tattoo. At the time I was in Amsterdam and I wanted to have it done right then and there, but I decided to not rush into things. I did some searching on Internet and found this one artist whose style I really liked, a more painting / watercolor kind of style. I contacted him and asked him if he thought he could do a Prince Tattoo and he was completely into it straight away. So I made an appointment, waited a few months (the good ones are super busy) and finally got it done yesterday. I sat for 4 1/2 hours. It always hurts a bit, although women can handle it much better than men apparently. But it totally depends on the place on your body how much it hurts. This one was pretty manageable. Only the last hour, when they go over what's already open it gets to be really unpleasant. But by then you know that they are almost finished so you bite through it, heheh

I would just go for it if I was you. A small Symbol somewhere already feels really amazing! (Amazing isn't in the size!)

Love it! I'm all for P tattoos. I'm in the process of getting one done myself. It's pretty big, goes from my hip and travels down my thigh. I'm 4 sessions in already with 2 left. 4 hours seems really quick for that piece, that's amazing! Very cool

I looove the word "vascillating"

Although Prince merged the two symbols - he didn't "own" it... the representation of that symbol has existed way before Prince - but he did design/market it in his own unique fashion.

If you have concerns about names on your body - have you checked out his views on idolatry?

THAT LOOKS FANTASTIC! I love the colors and the sleek design! I've been thinking about getting a tribute tattoo myself. I'm thinking something like this, with a few of my favorite lyrics, instead of the notes. And where the treble clef is, I'd want the love symbol... Possibly. I'm just throwing around ideas at this point.

I really dig your design ideas also! That will look truly amazing with the Symbol in the middle and your favorite song text all around it to 'form' the bird shape!
