This project took a LOT of work organizing the tracklist and finding edits for songs. It plays beautifully though.

Had to be the album version because of time issues. We have the 12" on another compilation. Since this was a "hits" CD, we wanted to include as many edits as possible to coincide with the Hits 1/2.

Thanks! We tried to get it to have major flow. This Hits 3 would be an album for people who thought Prince was too "wussy" or "feminine." It brings the badass funk HARDCORE and doesn't let up!

We actually thought about dropping off a copy to Prince if possible, just to see if he could or would market it. I think it would really sell and there are a lot of songs on there that deserve recognition.

Thanks for the compliments guys. We've had working copies of this for awhile, but finally got it perfect recently. All the volumes equalized, edits, order, # of tracks included, etc. And you should see our artwork.

Why not bother? Feel free to cop this list since you like it. The Hits 4 took a lot more work to get the flow and selection right. There are a couple of different versions since my brother and I have slightly differing opinions about it. Here's my brother's version, which is the most current incarnation. Again, as many edits as possible have been included to tie in with the Hits 1 & 2. Also, it's 18 tracks for the same reason.

Our criteria for these compilations was that they had to either be released or planned singles, important television or movie performances, or notorious fan favorites like 'Private Joy', etc. And they had to cover the same years as The Hits/B-Sides. The ballads discs we made kick much ass as well. Would you buy this?

Surely the Hits 3 would have to be more up-to-date and encompass work post 1993 along with stuff that was missed out on the Hits 1 and Hits 2:

Just goes to show how important tracklisting and context is when compiling albums.

Just one question - why no room for 'The Beautiful Ones' on eiether comp? I can see it fitting in somewhere on either (although better on Hits 3) and it was featured prominently in the Purple Rain movie, so it meets your criteria? Just curious, I know these things are quite subjective.
